Books I am SCARED to Read!
We all have those books that while they sound amazing… they are daunting and therefore we put them off. Here is my list of books that I need a little push before I read!
1. If We Were Villains – M.L. Rio
I must admit, the main reason I am scared to read this is twofold: it is character driven and heavy on the Shakespeare. Character driven books are extremely hit or miss for me, so I am always nervous going into them. Secondly, Shakespeare is, well, Shakespeare! I have to be in the right mindset to read this, and I haven’t found myself there yet.
2. One Dark Window – Rachel Gillig
To be honest, I truly have no reason to fear this book, but I do. The synopsis was quite vague, and it is the uncertainty that is stopping me from taking the plunge! However, I have heard nothing but great things about this book and, with the second book release on the horizon, will have to read soon.
3. Babel – R.F. Kuang
Two words: emotional damage. R.F. Kuang knows how to pack a punch and I have heard that this book is no different. On top of being dense, and having an extremely immersive magical system, I have found I simply have not had the emotional capacity nor brain power to tackle this book yet! This book does give me fall vibes, so perhaps I will read it this upcoming fall .
