Every morning, I make sure to carve out sacred time for my devotion. It's not just about reading; it's about actively spending time with Jesus. I've found that waking early, as suggested by 'A Bible & A Journal,' truly sets the tone for my day. I open my Bible, sometimes focusing on specific verses like Nahum 1:7, and then I use a reflection question to really ponder what God is speaking to my heart. This consistent morning ritual has been my anchor, helping me stay connected and understand His word more deeply throughout this long spiritual journey. It's a powerful way to start Day 20, feeling renewed and guided.
One thing I've learned through this fasting journey, especially as I delve deeper into Day 20, is the absolute importance of listening to my body. When I first started, I underestimated how crucial hydration and electrolyte balance are. I quickly realized that feeling my best wasn't just about spiritual commitment, but also supporting my physical self. Now, I make sure to replenish electrolytes safely. It's not about chugging sports drinks, but finding natural ways or supplements designed for fasting to keep my energy levels stable and avoid headaches. And speaking of physical well-being, while I'm not doing intense 'fitness classes' during my fast, I do make sure to incorporate gentle movement. A daily walk or some light stretching helps clear my mind and keeps my body feeling active without expending too much energy. It’s part of that holistic 'moving' practice that 'A Bible & A Journal' encourages.
Reflection has become an indispensable part of my 40-day fast. It's not enough to just 'do' the fast; I need to process what I'm learning and experiencing. My journal, inspired by the 'A Bible & A Journal' approach, is truly a safe place for me to pour out my thoughts, fears, and breakthroughs. After my morning devotion, I spend time writing down my answers to the reflection questions. This practice helps me connect the scripture to my daily life and discern God's guidance. For instance, pondering Nahum 1:7, 'The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him,' during my reflection helps me see His steadfastness even on challenging days. It really helps solidify the spiritual insights and makes the fast a journey of genuine transformation, not just endurance. These reflections are how I truly pursue a deeper relationship with God and understand His word.
