BOOK REVIEW: Darlin’ by E.L. Lewis

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If Sons of Anarchy and Hart of Dixie had a baby, Darlin’ would be it—and let me tell you, I devoured this book in under 48 hours. It’s packed with southern sass, MC drama, and the perfect slow-burn romance that kept me hooked from the first page.

The story follows Savannah Kingsley—a former pageant queen with big hair, big dreams, and a whole lot of baggage—as she heads from Alabama to California to find her runaway little brother, Beau. She thinks she’s going to rescue him from the clutches of a motorcycle club, only to find he’s actually thriving in his new found family with the Sons of Sorrow MC. Plot twist!

Enter Jessie Paxton, the cocky (and very swoon-worthy) VP of the SoCal chapter. He’s grumpy, she’s sunshine, and their chemistry? Off. The. Charts. Forced proximity? Check. Banter? So much. Sass? Absolutely. Watching their relationship unfold had me smiling, swooning, and texting my book BFFs with heart eyes.

I loved the side characters too—especially Marlow and Pippa, who are ultimate #rideordie bestie energy. Honestly, can we get a spinoff with Pippa and her dark romance recs?!

The romance was slow-burn perfection, the pacing was tight, and the twist? Chef’s kiss. It added just the right touch of SOA-level grit while keeping the heart of a romcom.

If you’re in the mood for a quick, addictive, character-driven read with all the small-town charm and MC edge, Darlin’ needs to be on your summer TBR. I’m already counting down the days until the next book. E.L. Lewis, I’m officially obsessed!

Darlin’ drops June 9th—mark your calendars!

... Read moreOkay, so you've heard the buzz around 'Darlin'' by E.L. Lewis, and maybe you're wondering if it lives up to the hype beyond just a quick review. Let me tell you, as someone who devoured this book, it absolutely does, and it’s a total game-changer for MC romance lovers! This isn't just another motorcycle club story; it's a masterclass in blending grit with genuine heart, delivering a romantic comedy vibe that's hard to resist. What truly makes 'Darlin'' stand out is its brilliant execution of beloved tropes. We're talking top-tier grumpy x sunshine where Jessie Paxton, the stoic MC VP, is perfectly balanced by Savannah Kingsley's vibrant, determined spirit. Their banter is electric, and you can practically feel the sparks flying off the page. The forced proximity element, driven by Savannah's quest to find her brother Beau, adds so much delicious tension. It's not just a plot device; it genuinely pushes these characters together, allowing their defenses to slowly crumble and their undeniable connection to flourish. And the slow burn? Oh, it’s exquisite! E.L. Lewis takes her time building the romance, making every glance, every touch, every shared moment feel earned and incredibly satisfying when they finally give in to their feelings. If you're new to MC romance, 'Darlin'' by E.L. Lewis is the perfect entry point. It has all the thrilling drama you'd expect from a motorcycle club, but it’s anchored by a deeply emotional and charming love story. It genuinely feels like a 'Sons of Anarchy' level of club loyalty and intensity, softened by the small-town, community feel of 'Hart of Dixie.' You get that tight-knit family dynamic within the Sons of Sorrow MC, which is just as compelling as the romance itself. The side characters, like Marlow and Pippa, are so well-developed that you'll be rooting for their own stories by the end. For those of us who live for a good romantic comedy, this book delivers on all fronts – humor, heart, and a hero you'll swoon over. The twists keep you on your toes, adding a layer of suspense that elevates it beyond a simple love story. It’s the kind of book you want to clear your schedule for, because once you start, you won't want to put it down. Mark your calendars for June 9th, because trust me, you'll want to pre-order this gem or grab it on release day. Get ready to add 'Darlin'' to your all-time favorite reads. You'll thank me later!
