💭This was one when I closed it I just sat there for a moment, and went wait. No….. when is the next book. I avoided spoilers on this book, so I was able to go in blind. Which was fantastic. I knew NOTHING about this book. Other than I read the back of the paperback months ago, and it sounded good. I decided to buy a different book that day. Instead I came home, and preordered a pretty sprayed edge edition instead (do not judge me. Some of us love pretty things, and do judge books by their covers. This book just so happens to have a pretty cover, and option for pretty edges). Well fast forward almost like MONTHS, and I remember nothing about what it was even supposed to be about. So when I say I went in blind, I went in BLIND. Moving on, This book had me really on my toes with the world building, add in the relationship, and story unfolding, and I’m over here flipping each page like my life depends on it. Add in the fact I paired it with the audiobook, and I was in a completely different world. Earth? Where’s that? Needless to say this book is good. Definitely will be one of my favorite reads this year, I can guarantee it. Tears, laughter, possible cursing, screaming no, no, no, it had me hooked!!
💬This is an addictive Fantasy Romance. The Romance in this book is a slow burn. The book does have descriptive spice. As well as spicy language, and themes. The book moves at a steady pace following Raeve a assassian as she finds her world upside down when she is imprisoned by the guild of nobles. As someone she expected to be her enemy Kaan finds her there, and feels the echos of what was burning between them. His heart has been torn apart once before. This book is thrilling, romantic, with snarky banter to enjoy. With dragons, fae, magic, secrets, and betrayal it’s easy to get lost between this books pages.
... Read moreOkay, so you've heard the buzz about 'When The Moon Hatched' by Sarah A. Parker, and you're probably wondering what makes this fantasy romance so captivating. Let me tell you, it's not just the dragons – although they are absolutely epic!
One of the biggest draws for me was the incredible dynamic between Raeve and Kaan. If you're a fan of the 'enemies to lovers' trope, this book delivers it beautifully. Raeve, our fierce assassin protagonist, finds her world turned upside down, and her initial encounters with Kaan are charged with tension and mistrust. Watching their relationship evolve from palpable animosity to something deeply profound and utterly consuming is a journey you won't want to miss. Their banter is sharp, their chemistry undeniable, and the slow burn? Oh, it's a slow burn that builds into an inferno. You'll be rooting for them, frustrated by them, and completely invested in their fate.
Speaking of plot, the story plunges you into a world brimming with danger, ancient magic, and intricate court politics. The idea of a powerful Guild of Nobles holding sway, and the constant threat of 'unaliving' (as the book puts it), creates a high-stakes environment. And yes, there are dragons! Not just background elements, but integral to the world and its mysteries. The author's descriptions bring these majestic creatures to life, making you feel the awe and terror they inspire. The world-building is truly immersive, pulling you away from reality – I literally forgot Earth existed while reading!
And for those wondering about the romance and 'spice' – yes, it's there, and it's well-integrated into the narrative. It's descriptive and passionate, enhancing the emotional connection between Raeve and Kaan without overshadowing the fantasy plot. It’s definitely a book for readers who appreciate a good, steamy fantasy romance.
Beyond the pages, even the book itself is a work of art! The book cover for 'When The Moon Hatched' is stunning. The image, often featuring a white dragon against a dark, mystical backdrop with elements like a castle and floral patterns, topped with a silver crown, perfectly encapsulates the ethereal yet powerful vibe of the story. It makes you want to pick it up and dive right in. This visual artistry extends to the sense of wonder the book evokes, weaving together magic, betrayal, and destiny.
If you're on the fence, or just looking for your next addictive read, I can't recommend 'When The Moon Hatched' enough. It's truly one of those books that leaves you staring at the ceiling, desperately wishing for the next installment. Prepare to be swept away by an epic tale of love, power, and mythical creatures.
