💭 Absolutely love Kam, and Cheetah. I was so excited for this book. It definitely had me laughing a ton, and kept me pulled in. I think the only part I did struggle a tiny bit with was when the book would give events from their POVs (like an inner monologue, or something) from the previous books. There isnt a ton of this, but enough it did catch my notice that it was an issue for me. Other than those areas I was completely consumed with the book. That one thing is the ONLY reason I gave the book 4 stars, instead of 5 stars. So that tells you the book is still really good. Heck if you know A.K Landow you know it’s good. Also, if you know Cheetah, and Kam you are gonna be laughing a ton anyways. The book has some depth I didn’t expect, which I don’t know why I didnt. I know this author writes her books full of dimension, sooo. Definitely had me crying at points, and laughing at others. Also, you know it is spicy too!!

💬 This Sport Themed Contemporary Romance is book 4 in the Extra Innings Series. This book is a Romcom. The romance in this book is a friends to lovers. The book is spicy, and very descriptive. The book moves at a steady pace following Kam, and Cheetah as they start as friends, and develop into more. Cheetah feels pressure from his family to settle down, while Kam runs from anything long term. Cheetah seems to be different for her, she doesnt seem to want to run from him. Which only makes her panic more. When Cheetah needs a favor, Kam agrees to help. Except this may of just complicated things more. This book is hilarious with witty banter, and also steamy.

... Read moreOkay, fellow romance readers, let's dive a bit deeper into Kam and Cheetah from A.K. Landow's 'Off Season,' because I know many of you are curious about their dynamic – who's leading the charge, who's the softie, or in simpler terms, who's perceived as the 'top' and who's the 'bottom' in this incredible friends-to-lovers story! From my perspective, reading this book was a journey of uncovering layers. While 'Off Season' doesn't explicitly label characters as 'top' or 'bottom' in a strict sense, especially not in a way that defines their entire relationship, it absolutely explores a fascinating give-and-take in their emotional and physical connection. Cheetah, our charming baseball player, definitely embodies the 'he falls first' trope. He's incredibly devoted and protective, often taking the lead in pursuing Kam emotionally, which brings a beautiful depth to his character. You see his vulnerability and how deeply he cares, which for me, positions him as someone who is willing to be emotionally exposed and nurturing – perhaps the 'bottom' in terms of emotional receptiveness and desire for a committed partnership. He's the one openly craving that deep connection. Kam, on the other hand, is initially the one running from commitment, fiercely independent, and perhaps more guarded. Her journey involves learning to trust and let someone in. In terms of strength and wit, she’s absolutely a force! Her resistance and eventual surrender to Cheetah's affection shows a different kind of 'top' energy – one that controls access to her heart and sets the pace for their emotional intimacy. She’s definitely not easily swayed, making her eventual falling all the more satisfying. When it comes to the spicy scenes (and yes, there are plenty of those 🌶️🌶️🌶️!), their dynamic is incredibly steamy and consensual, often a playful back-and-forth rather than a rigid role-play. It's about mutual pleasure and discovering what works for them as a couple. The witty banter between them, which I absolutely adored, often feels like a playful power struggle, adding another layer to their captivating dynamic. The 'fake relationship' trope also plays a huge part in defining their evolving roles. Cheetah initiates it out of need, but Kam's agreement and how she leans into it, even while fighting her burgeoning feelings, reveals her own agency and how she ultimately dictates the emotional pace and boundaries of their 'pretend' romance. The setting of professional sports, with Cheetah in his baseball uniform on the field, often mirrors their personal game – sometimes strategic, sometimes spontaneous, but always passionate. The intensity of the sport themes adds to the high stakes of their personal relationship. It’s not about one person dominating the other in a simplistic way, but about two strong individuals finding their rhythm together, challenging each other, and ultimately building a foundation of deep affection and respect. So, if you're looking for a book where characters have clear, traditionally defined roles in a relationship, 'Off Season' might surprise you with its nuanced approach. Instead, it offers a more fluid and evolving dynamic where both Kam and Cheetah have moments of being vulnerable and moments of being utterly in charge. It’s a beautiful exploration of two people navigating love on their own terms, making it a truly compelling and spicy read. I highly recommend diving into their story to experience this captivating balance for yourself and discover how their unique partnership unfolds!
