My Outfit Formula
Trying to eliminate some of the Sunday scaries by getting outfits ready for the week. My outfit formula makes this so much easier.
You're probably searching for an 'outfit formula app' to make your daily dressing easier, and I totally get it! While there are some fantastic apps out there, I’ve found that creating my own personal outfit formula system works just as well – sometimes even better – because it’s tailored specifically to my wardrobe and lifestyle. Think of it as your DIY wardrobe organizer, giving you that app-like efficiency without needing to download anything new. My goal was to eliminate those dreaded 'Sunday Scaries' and morning decision fatigue. Here's how you can build a system that acts like your personalized style app: First, take stock of your wardrobe. Just like an app needs data, you need to know what you're working with. Pull out all your main categories: your favorite dresses, versatile dress pants, comfy casual pants, go-to athletic pants, and of course, your trusty jeans. Don't forget your tops – those essential basic tees, graphic t-shirts, and cozy sweaters. This helps you see your options clearly. Next, start building your 'formulas.' This is where you create reliable outfit combinations. For instance, I love pairing my rust-colored smocked skirt with a simple white graphic t-shirt for a chic yet casual look. Or, for a more professional vibe, I might combine dark green cargo-style dress pants with a ribbed teal sleeveless top and a nice blazer. Having these pre-set combinations is like having an app suggest outfits to you! Consider different scenarios. What works for a casual day? Maybe blue and black checkered athletic pants with a black graphic t-shirt. What about a slightly dressier but still relaxed look? My go-to is dark gray jeans, a black camisole, and a light beige sleeveless blazer. For truly casual days, light wash distressed jeans with a fun graphic sweatshirt are perfect. Once you have your formulas, create a visual 'lookbook.' You don't need a fancy app for this! Snap quick photos of your favorite combinations on your phone, or simply write them down in a notebook. This acts like your personal style gallery, making it super easy to scroll through options when you're deciding what to wear. I even lay out my clothes for the week, just like in the picture, to visualize everything. Finally, plan your week ahead. This is the 'scheduling' feature of your personal outfit formula app. On a Sunday, take 15-20 minutes to assign specific outfits to specific days. Think about your schedule – do you have meetings? Casual errands? A specific event? This pre-planning, using your established formulas, completely eliminates morning stress. It’s amazing how much smoother your week runs when your outfits are already decided. By creating your own outfit formula, you gain the organizational benefits of an app without the digital clutter. It's flexible, personal, and helps you make the most of your existing wardrobe. Give it a try, and you might just find your own 'app-free' method is the best one yet!

Omg I love the first tee. That's from The Dot right?
