Iced Raspberry Brown Sugar Cappuccino
Iced Raspberry Brown Sugar Cappuccino
The combination of raspberry and brown sugar are heaven in this iced cappuccino! Iced cappuccino is a drink I always come back to. It’s just so satisfying to make and in my opinion the perfect ratio of milk, espresso, and milk foam.
I recommend using a handheld frother to froth up your milk in this recipe to achieve the perfect milk foam. You can use your steam wand for this but it’s a bit harder and may cause your ice to melt quicker when you pour the milk in. I hope you enjoy it!
Ingredients
1/2 tbsp raspberry syrup
1/2-1 tsp brown sugar syrup
4 oz of whole milk
2 shots espresso
Ice (I used raspberry ice which was just water blended with raspberries and froze into an ice tray)
1. Combine raspberry and brown sugar syrup in a small glass or pitcher.
2. Pour in whole milk next and mix with a handheld frother until thick foam is on top.
3. Pour ice into a new glass then pour in the milk.
4. Pour 2 shots of espresso on top.
5. Stir and enjoy!
After countless coffee shop visits, I finally mastered making my favorite Iced Raspberry Brown Sugar Cappuccino right at home, and honestly, it’s a game-changer! There's something truly special about the blend of sweet-tart raspberry and the warm, molasses-like notes of brown sugar. It elevates a regular iced cappuccino into an indulgent treat without being overly sweet. One of the biggest lessons I learned is the importance of quality ingredients, even for something simple. Using a good raspberry syrup makes all the difference, and you can even play around with homemade versions. For the brown sugar component, sometimes I'll use a brown sugar simple syrup, but a dash of actual brown sugar mixed into the espresso can also work wonders if you're out of syrup. Let's talk about the foam – it’s crucial for that authentic cappuccino experience, even iced! While the original recipe mentions using a handheld frother, I've found that getting the milk to the right temperature (cold, but not icy) before frothing helps create a denser, longer-lasting foam. I usually start with about 4 oz of milk, which gives me plenty of creamy goodness. If you don't have a frother, you can vigorously shake your milk in a lidded jar for a minute or two, then pour off the liquid and spoon the foam on top. It's not quite the same, but it does the trick in a pinch! Now, for that secret weapon: raspberry ice. This was such a brilliant idea, and it really takes the drink to the next level. Instead of regular ice cubes diluting your perfectly crafted beverage, these fruit-infused cubes slowly melt, adding more raspberry flavor. If you don't have fresh raspberries for making "raspberry ice," you can freeze watered-down raspberry syrup in your ice tray for a similar effect. It's all about ensuring every sip of your iced cappuccino is packed with flavor. And for the espresso, I always recommend fresh shots. Pour in 2 shots of espresso right over the frothed milk and ice. Watching the dark espresso swirl into the creamy white and pink layers is almost as satisfying as drinking it! If you don't have an espresso machine, a strong Moka pot coffee or even concentrated cold brew can be a good substitute. Don't be afraid to experiment! Want it less sweet? Reduce the 1/2 tbsp raspberry syrup. Craving an extra kick? Add another shot of espresso. You can also try different milk alternatives like oat milk or almond milk – they froth beautifully too. This homemade iced raspberry brown sugar cappuccino is not just a drink; it's a little moment of joy you can create for yourself, anytime.
