How to make elderberry shots.

How to Make Homemade Elderberry Shots to Boost Immunity

My family wasn’t feeling their best, so I decided to whip up a batch of elderberry shots to help support our immune systems naturally. These little shots are packed with benefits, super easy to make, and honestly, they’ve become a staple in my home during cold and flu season. Let me show you how I made them!

Ingredients:

• 1 cup dried elderberry seeds

• 2 cinnamon sticks

• 1 lemon (sliced)

• A few sprigs of fresh rosemary leaves

• Honey (to sweeten to your liking)

• 32 oz of water

Directions:

1. Start by boiling the 32 oz of water in a pot.

2. Once boiling, add the elderberry seeds, lemon slices, cinnamon sticks, and rosemary leaves.

3. Let everything boil together for about 15 minutes, filling your kitchen with the most comforting aroma.

4. After boiling, allow the mixture to cool completely.

5. Strain the liquid into a jar or bottle to remove the seeds and herbs.

6. Sweeten with honey to your preference, stirring it in once the mixture has cooled (this helps preserve honey’s natural benefits).

7. Store in the fridge and enjoy a small shot daily!

Benefits of Each Ingredient:

• Elderberries: These tiny berries are a powerhouse of antioxidants and vitamin C, known to boost immunity, reduce inflammation, and fight off colds and flu.

• Cinnamon Sticks: Cinnamon isn’t just warm and comforting; it’s also antibacterial and helps with inflammation. It supports respiratory health and can even aid in digestion.

• Lemon: Packed with vitamin C, lemons strengthen your immune system, hydrate your body, and provide a refreshing zing to the mix.

• Rosemary Leaves: Rosemary is an herb full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s great for respiratory health and adds a subtle earthy flavor to the shots.

• Honey: Naturally soothing and antibacterial, honey helps ease sore throats, adds sweetness, and balances the tangy flavors.

Why I Love This Recipe:

It’s simple, natural, and made with love plus, I feel so much better knowing I’m giving my family something wholesome during those sniffly days. These elderberry shots are a game changer for immune support, and they taste so much better than store bought alternatives!

Would you try this recipe? You can also add ginger or turmeric.

... Read moreSo many of you asked for more details after my last post, and I'm so excited to share even more about these amazing elderberry shots! Beyond just fighting off sniffles, these shots have truly transformed how my family approaches wellness. Elderberries are superstars, packed with anthocyanins that give them their deep color and powerful antioxidant punch. These aren't just good for warding off colds; they also help reduce inflammation throughout the body, which is key for overall health. Combined with the anti-inflammatory power of cinnamon and the vitamin C boost from lemon, it's like a tiny army for your immune system! One of my favorite things about making these homemade elderberry shots is how customizable they are! Remember how I mentioned adding ginger or turmeric? If you're feeling adventurous, a knob of fresh ginger adds a spicy kick and even more immune-boosting properties – it's fantastic for congestion. For turmeric, adding a pinch of black pepper is a must to help your body absorb all its amazing anti-inflammatory benefits. You could even try a dash of cayenne pepper for an extra metabolic kick, or a splash of apple cider vinegar for gut health. The possibilities are endless when you're making your own elderberry wellness shots right *at home*! When I first started looking into making my own *elderberry shots*, I was amazed by how many store-bought options contained added sugars or artificial flavors. That's why learning how to make these elderberry shots at home became such a priority for me. You get pure, unadulterated goodness! For my family, we aim for one small shot (about 1-2 tablespoons) daily, especially during peak cold and flu season or when we feel a little run down. It’s like a daily dose of natural armor! Store your homemade blend in a sealed jar in the fridge, and it should stay fresh for about 2-3 weeks. I usually make a fresh batch every couple of weeks to ensure maximum potency. If you want to extend its life, you can even freeze individual portions in ice cube trays! For those curious about the science, elderberries are rich in flavonoids and phenolic acids, which are powerful antioxidants that scavenge free radicals in the body. This oxidative stress reduction is not only great for fighting off illness but also contributes to overall cellular health, including skin health, as I mentioned earlier. Every single ingredient in this simple recipe plays a vital role in creating a synergistic effect that truly supports your immune system. A quick note on sourcing: always use dried elderberries or ensure fresh ones are properly cooked. Raw elderberries can be toxic. I always buy organic dried elderberries from a reputable source to ensure I'm getting the best quality for my family's *immunity tonic*. It's incredible how a few simple ingredients, simmered with love, can turn into such a potent *elderberry wellness shot*. Don't be afraid to experiment with the flavors to find what your family loves most. The beauty of DIY is making it truly yours! Give these elderberry immunity shots a try – I promise your body will thank you!
