Let Go of What You Can’t Control

“Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to his life?”

Matthew 6:27

Peace grows when we stop carrying responsibilities that belong to God.

Declaration:

I release what I cannot control and trust God with what I cannot change.

What burden are you carrying that God never asked you to carry?

... Read moreIn my own journey toward peace, I found that the hardest step is often accepting what we simply cannot change. The verse from Matthew 6:27 really resonated with me: “Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to his life?” It’s a powerful reminder that worry is futile and often only steals joy without yielding any benefit. I learned to differentiate between what is within my power to influence and what isn’t. This process involved a lot of honest reflection about which responsibilities I had mistakenly carried—those that belonged to others or ultimately to God. By consciously choosing to ‘release what I cannot control and trust God with what I cannot change,’ I felt a tremendous weight lift. One practical approach that helped was setting daily intentions to focus on what I could do rather than fixate on outcomes beyond my control. For example, I might strive to be kind, diligent, or patient, but without obsessing over how others react or how situations unfold. This shift in mindset cultivated a deeper peace in my daily life. Also, embracing this trust deepened my spiritual life. When I ceased battling internal anxiety over uncontrollable circumstances, I opened space for faith and surrender, which brought a renewed sense of calm and presence. This is not an easy process—letting go requires conscious effort and often feels like relinquishing control, which can be uncomfortable. But the freedom it brings is invaluable. I encourage others to ask themselves what burden they might be carrying that isn’t theirs to bear, and to consider entrusting those to God or the universe. It’s a journey worth taking for anyone seeking inner peace and balance.

No crash diets. No magic supplements. Just real effort, discipline, and a lot of learning. I won’t lie sticking to a routine when you’re mentally drained, working full time, or just feeling drained is tough. But the truth is: your body will not wait for the “perfect time.” You only get one body
