tell me what you understand by what you read!

My tips on... what you are reading - thoughts to ponder!

4/29 Edited to

... Read moreWhen reading, it's important not just to absorb words but to actively engage with the material to truly understand it. One of my favorite approaches is to focus on improving your comprehension with each reading session rather than trying to prove your knowledge. This mindset shift helps reduce pressure and encourages a more open, curious attitude. From personal experience, I find it helpful to pause periodically and ask myself questions about what I just read. For example: what is the main message? How does this relate to my own experiences? What new perspective am I gaining? This not only deepens understanding but also makes reading a more meaningful and reflective practice. I also like to start my day with positive reminders that frame my mindset, similar to the phrase "Focus on IMPROVING, not PROVING." It serves as a daily encouragement to learn from yesterday rather than just repeating what I already know. Incorporating such habits can improve both comprehension and retention. Additionally, sharing insights or discussing readings with others can reinforce your understanding and expose you to different viewpoints. Remember, reading is not a passive activity but an interactive process that grows richer with thoughtful engagement and reflection.
