Why I stopped Going to the Salon

Nail salon trips used to be my go-to, but between the rising costs and never *quite* getting the results I wanted, I finally decided to take matters into my own hands! 💅✨ One day, I took the plunge, spent around $60 on supplies, and gave at-home nails a try. Slowly but surely, I’ve gotten better—and for the first time, I’m actually happy with how they turn out!

I’m far from perfect (and definitely not a pro 😅), but there’s something so therapeutic about doing my own nails. Plus, the savings and creative freedom? *Chef’s kiss.* 💖 Who else loves the DIY nail life?"

... Read moreSince I started doing my own nails at home, I've discovered a whole new world of possibilities! One of the styles I absolutely adore and have mastered is the classic square short white tip. It's such an elegant and versatile look, perfect for any occasion. If you're like me and dreaming of achieving that crisp, clean French tip look without the salon price tag, you're in the right place! First off, let's talk about getting that perfect square shape. This is crucial for *square short white tip nails*. I usually start by gently filing my nails straight across the top, then slightly squaring off the corners. Don't go too sharp; a gentle curve at the very corner keeps it from looking harsh. Remember, we’re aiming for short and chic, so resist the urge to leave them too long. After shaping, I use a buffer to smooth out any ridges and ensure a clean surface. Good prep makes all the difference! Next, the fun part: the white tip! This used to intimidate me, but with a few tries, I got the hang of it. I've experimented with a few methods, and here's what works best for me. After applying a good base coat to protect my natural nails (which also helps prevent staining), I let it dry completely. Then, for the white tip, I find that a steady hand and a good quality, opaque white polish are key. Some people love using French tip guides – those little sticky strips you put on your nail to create a perfect line. They’re super helpful when you’re starting out! I typically aim for a thin, even line across the tip of my light-colored nail bed, making sure it follows the natural curve of my fingertip. If you mess up, a small brush dipped in nail polish remover can clean up the line beautifully. The OCR mentioned "light-colored" nails, and this white tip technique works wonderfully on natural light-colored nails or a subtle nude base. Once the white tips are dry (I usually do two thin coats for full opacity), I sometimes apply a sheer, milky pink or nude polish over the entire nail to blend everything together and give it that salon-quality finish. This step is optional but really elevates the look. Finally, a shiny top coat is a must! It seals everything in, prevents chipping, and adds that gorgeous glossy finish that makes your DIY nail topic efforts look professional. I always make sure to cap the free edge of my nail with the topcoat to maximize wear time. The best part about doing these Nails at Home is the therapeutic process itself. It’s my little self-care ritual. Plus, think of the savings! That initial $60 investment in supplies has paid for itself countless times over. I can now achieve virtually any look I want, including my beloved square short white tip nails, whenever I want, without booking an appointment or worrying about salon costs. It's truly empowering to have that creative freedom right at my fingertips. Give it a try – you might surprise yourself with how good you become!

Why I stopped pixie diffusing my wavy/curly hair✨
Pixie diffusing works wonders for extra volume, however it frequently caused my hair to dry wonky the closer it got to my root. This is especially true for my bottom layers as they tend to dry in a looser pattern and don’t want to “curl” up into the diffuser (this is totally normally to have multip
