🎨 Exhibition Introduction # #: Land in the Seamless (Shifting Terrains)
At first, it was thought that the word "seam" or "marginal area" would sound far away or dry geography, but as soon as I walked through the nine sets of works that artists associated with real communities across the country, the feeling changed.
This work is to draw on local myths, word-of-mouth narratives, and histories that are not recorded in the mainstream, and to transmit them through contemporary art in a very dimensional and powerful way:
- A Changing Way of Life: The Story of a Village That Used to Raise Elephants But Had to Cease Because of State Forest Policy
- Ecosystem Wounds: Infrastructure like Incoming Reservoirs Changing Migratory Bird Life Cycles, and Silent Cross-Border Pollutants Contaminating the Mekong and Reed Rivers
- Memory and Identity: A work that explores the lives of women through "hair" and braiding that conveys a story of cultural inheritance that is slowly fading through time.
This exhibition does not teach or give fixed answers, but opens up a space for us to ask ourselves, "On a day when the world is shaken by economic, environmental and political crises, what kind of joints are we all standing on and how to adapt in the midst of this uncertainty?"
Anyone who eats art with intense social issues suggests not to miss it at all. Sit and enjoy, but think or take some way back.
