my experience with microneedling 💉🩸
the harsh winter in montreal really took a toll on my skin, coupled with the hormonal changes of going off birth control and prozac. aside from breaking out in hives (lol), I’m so happy with my decision to go do it. it was such a lovely experience, she gave me a full facial first, did some extractions on my nose, and because of the numbing cream it was completely painless. in only 3 days I can already see such a difference, especially with the lines on my forehead. if you go ahead with microneedling, be cautious that you might have a reaction to the numbing cream, apperantly it’s pretty common.

My microneedling journey wasn't without a few bumps, literally! As mentioned, I experienced an unexpected allergic reaction to the numbing cream. It started with hives breaking out on my legs and arms, which was certainly a surprise, as the facial itself was completely painless thanks to the cream. Thankfully, a bit of cortisone cream and some antihistamines helped clear it up within a couple of days. It really highlights how important it is to be aware of potential sensitivities, even to something seemingly innocuous like numbing cream. Always make sure your practitioner does a patch test if you have sensitive skin or a history of allergies! Communication with your specialist is key – don't hesitate to mention any concerns or reactions, no matter how small they seem. Speaking of results, while I was thrilled with the initial improvements I saw after just three days – especially with those pesky forehead lines – it's fascinating to learn that the full effects of microneedling can take up to two months to fully manifest. My skin certainly felt like it was bouncing back, gaining some of the elasticity it lost during the harsh winter. My texture and complexion, which had been uneven, also started looking much smoother and brighter. However, for truly transformative and long-lasting results, most practitioners recommend a series of treatments, typically around 3 to 6 sessions, spaced a few weeks apart. If you're considering multiple microneedling sessions, you might be wondering what to expect. After your first session, you'll likely notice an improvement in skin texture and tone, much like I did. But as you progress to your 'before and after 3 sessions' milestone, that's when many people report more significant changes. Collagen production continues to ramp up, leading to further reduction in fine lines, acne scars, and improved overall skin firmness. Imagine your skin getting better and better with each visit, building on the previous improvements! It's like a long-term investment in your skin's health and appearance. I'm definitely planning to go back for more to see the cumulative benefits. It’s important to manage your expectations, too. While one session can offer noticeable benefits, the real magic often unfolds over several treatments. Think of it as building a strong foundation for your skin. Each session stimulates more collagen and elastin, gradually improving concerns like skin texture, uneven complexion, and loss of elasticity that I experienced. You might find that after 3 sessions, your skin feels significantly firmer, appears more radiant, and concerns like mild scarring or enlarged pores are visibly diminished. This cumulative effect is why many find the investment in multiple treatments truly worthwhile for achieving their long-term skin goals. When choosing where to get your microneedling done, it’s worth doing your homework. I'd recommend looking for a clinic with certified professionals who can answer all your questions, from the type of microneedling device they use to their hygiene practices. Don't be shy about asking during your consultation. Ensure they explain the aftercare thoroughly and what to do if you have any adverse reactions, like mine. It’s not just about the immediate results, but also ensuring a safe and comfortable experience throughout your entire treatment plan. Trust your gut feeling about the clinic and practitioner – you want someone who prioritizes your skin health and safety above all else.
