how I keep my apartment clean with 2 cats
I love these little monsters to DEATH but they sure cut my work out for me in keeping a clean apartment. my orange guy sheds SO MUCH and they track litter all over the place. being a neat freak I really gotta do the extra work cause I can't stand a messy apartment even for a day. so after having these guys for 3 years, these have been my favourite tips to keep my living space clean :)

Having two cats is pure joy, but let's be honest, it also means a constant battle against fur tumbleweeds and stray litter granules! I've learned a lot over the years, and I'm happy to share what's really made a difference in keeping my apartment feeling fresh and clean, even with my two 'little monsters' running the show. My robotic vacuum, much like the sleek black one often pictured, is my absolute MVP. I run it every single day, sometimes twice, especially during peak shedding season. It picks up so much hair and tiny litter bits you don't even see. I've found scheduling it to run while I'm out is a game-changer – I come home to cleaner floors without lifting a finger. It gets under furniture and into corners, tackling those hidden dust bunnies and cat hair clumps that used to drive me crazy. Now, let's talk litter boxes. This is often the biggest hurdle for keeping a clean house with cats. First, the type of litter matters. I swear by a low-dust, clumping clay litter. It helps minimize tracking and makes scooping easier. And speaking of scooping, I do it at least twice a day, sometimes more. This isn't just for cleanliness, it's also for my cats' comfort! A fresh box encourages them to use it, preventing accidents elsewhere. A good litter mat is absolutely non-negotiable. I use a large, textured mat right outside my wooden litter box enclosure. It catches so much of what would otherwise spread across the floor. The enclosure itself is fantastic because it contains any enthusiastic digging and makes the area look much tidier, blending into my apartment decor rather than being an eyesore. For a deeper clean, I fully empty and wash the litter boxes with soap and water once a week. I use an unscented dish soap and hot water, scrubbing thoroughly before letting them air dry completely. This prevents odor buildup and keeps things hygienic for my furry friends, which is essential for a truly clean apartment. And for those of us with 'two cats in a small apartment,' the 'n+1' rule for litter boxes is crucial. I have three litter boxes strategically placed in quiet spots. This prevents territorial disputes and ensures there's always a clean option available, which significantly reduces accidents and helps keep the whole house cleaner. Beyond the daily vacuuming, managing cat hair on furniture and clothes is an ongoing task. My reusable lint roller is always within arm's reach – one for the living room and one by the door! But prevention is better. I brush my cats daily, especially my orange tabby who sheds like a professional. A good deshedding tool works wonders. For furniture, I've invested in washable slipcovers for my couch. They're easy to toss in the laundry, keeping everything fresh and fur-free. Finally, for overall apartment freshness, I regularly wipe down surfaces that my cats might rub against. Dusting is more frequent, and a good air purifier running in the main living area helps capture dander and keep the air quality high. It's all about creating a routine that works for you and your feline companions. It might sound like a lot, but once these habits are in place, they become second nature. It allows me to enjoy my two 'little monsters' without feeling overwhelmed by the mess. A clean home and happy cats? Totally achievable!
