From heating it evenly to managing cooking temps, the griddle makes it easy to create delicious meals like chopped cheese. One thing I noticed is that preheating the griddle is essential to get that perfect sear and melt the cheese just right. The chopped cheese sandwich, originally a New York favorite, combines ground beef, onions, and melted cheese on a hero roll—simple but packed with flavor. Using the Blackstone, it’s easy to cook all components simultaneously, which saves time and helps everything blend perfectly. For anyone new to griddles, I recommend starting with simple dishes like breakfast skillets, grilled cheese sandwiches, or even classic burgers. These are great for getting a feel of temperature control and cooking surface management. Soon, you can move on to more adventurous recipes such as fried rice, fajitas, or even stir-fry veggies. Cleaning the Blackstone after cooking was straightforward since cooking chopped cheese creates minimal mess, but wiping it down while still warm helps maintain the griddle surface. Overall, switching to griddle cooking elevated my home cooking game and opened up many delicious possibilities. I’m excited to try marinated chicken and veggie skewers next, but I’d love recommendations from others on what has worked well for them on the Blackstone griddle.
