SPEAKING IN TONGUES

[27] If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret.

I Corinthians 14:27 (NKJV)

Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift from the Holy Spirit, enabling believers to speak in languages they have not learned (Acts 2:4, 1 Cor 12:10).

It is a personal, Spirit-empowered prayer language for self-edification (1 Cor 14:4) or a message for the church requiring interpretation to be useful.

Key Biblical Aspects of Tongues

Definition & Purpose:

It is a supernatural gift (1 Cor 12:4-11). It serves as a sign to unbelievers (1 Cor 14:22) and, when interpreted, edifies the church, similar to prophecy.

Personal Prayer Language:

In private, it acts as a, means of direct communication with God, allowing the spirit to pray mysteries even if the mind does not understand.

Congregational Usage:

In public worship, Paul instructs that tongues should be limited to two or three people, speaking one at a time, and only if interpreted (1 Cor 14:27-28). Without an interpreter, the speaker should keep silent in the church.

Two Types:

The Bible indicates tongues can be known human languages (as on Pentecost in Acts 2:8-11) or spiritual, angelic languages (1 Cor 14:2).

No Gift is Universal:

Not all believers speak in tongues, as it is a gift distributed as the Spirit wills (1 Cor 12:11, 30).

Key Scripture References

1 Corinthians 14:

The primary chapter outlining rules, purpose, and proper use of tongues in church.

Acts 2:1-4:

The first occurrence on the day of Pentecost.

Acts 10:46 & 19:6: Instances of believers receiving the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues.

1 Corinthians 12: Lists tongues as one of the spiritual gifts.

While some interpret 1 Corinthians 13:8 to mean the gift has ceased, others believe it continues today as a valid, though not necessary, gift for believers.

In conclusion:

Please do not be deceived, the Holy Spirit doesn't live in a chaotic environment, a place where everyone is speaking in tongues at the same time is chaotic and spiritual unorganized, we can say with all certainty that the Holy Spirit is not there and it's unbiblical.

If it goes against what the Bible says, regardless of who is doing it or saying it, please don't take part, it's not of God.
