Decided it was time for something apple so I made some apple spice English muffins paired with my homemade apple pie filling. These are a favorite of mine this time of year. I also make a pumpkin spice version which is def gonna be happening soon. The really fun thing about these is being able to make fun shapes along with various sizes/thickness. Sometimes I want a big fluffy English muffin with some body and other times I want a thinner one (like for breakfast sandwiches).
- My go to recipe for these is the apple spice English muffin recipe from the “a kitchen addiction” website. The recipe does call for dried apple which I opted to leave out because I didn’t want to try and hunt that down. So instead I just used my apple pie filling as a topping for the missing apple flavor. I also like to top these with apple butter. Also a little note be sure to watch these while they’re cooking because it can be easy to burn them. Keep the heat medium low and be sure to check the bottoms every few minutes so they don’t burn.

If you're like me, fall is the perfect season to experiment with cozy, comforting recipes that bring warmth to the kitchen. Apple spice English muffins have quickly become one of my favorite treats to make during this time of year because they combine seasonal flavors with the familiar, delightful texture of English muffins. What I find especially fun about making these muffins at home is the freedom to play with the shapes and sizes—I often make larger, fluffy muffins when I want a hearty breakfast, and thinner ones when I’m craving a quick sandwich. One thing I’ve learned is that controlling the cooking heat is crucial; medium-low heat helps prevent burning and ensures the muffins cook evenly. Checking the bottoms frequently makes a big difference! Instead of using dried apples in my batter, I substitute with my homemade apple pie filling as a topping, which adds a delightful, fresh apple flavor and a bit of sweetness that pairs perfectly with warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. I also like to spread apple butter on top for an extra burst of apple richness, which complements the muffins beautifully. For those who enjoy seasonal variations, I recommend trying a pumpkin spice version as well. It’s an excellent way to keep the fall vibes going and switch up flavors throughout the season. The best recipe I’ve come across is from 'A Kitchen Addiction,' which provides a solid base that you can customize with your own touches—whether that’s adjusting thickness, adding different toppings, or experimenting with spice blends. Making these muffins feels like a little fall celebration every time, whether you’re enjoying a quiet morning or hosting brunch with friends. Overall, making apple spice English muffins at home not only fills your kitchen with the rich aromas of autumn but also offers a satisfying hands-on baking experience that yields delicious results. I highly recommend giving this recipe a try and customizing it to suit your taste and mood this season!
