700whp 340i🚀🚀
So many of you ask about modifying the BMW 340i, and honestly, it's been an incredible journey! When I first got my B58, I knew I wanted more power, but I don't think I anticipated hitting over 700whp. It started with some common bolt-ons, and I quickly realized just how much potential these engines have. My first steps into modifying involved getting the car to breathe better and handle more power. I opted for a MST CAI for improved airflow and a VRSE CATLESS DP to reduce backpressure. Pairing this with an OTS E30 tune and an XHP STAGE 3 transmission tune made a huge difference right away. I was already feeling a significant bump in performance, but the true gains came with a proper custom tune. Early on, I worked with CD919 TUNED, and we saw power around 650whp. This was impressive, but during those sessions, we noticed my stock exhaust was definitely capping the potential. It was an important lesson – sometimes you need to address the whole system to unlock peak performance. I also experienced misfires early on, which pointed to fueling issues, a common hurdle when pushing these engines. To break past that 650whp barrier and address the fueling, I knew I needed more serious upgrades. I installed a TV HPFP and a STAGE 3 LPFP to ensure the engine was getting enough fuel, especially with higher ethanol blends. Adding PR PI 750CC injectors and a VRSE CHARGEPIPE completed the fueling and air delivery system. This is where things really started to get wild. After switching to a WEDGE tune, the car transformed. Even without a dyno immediately after, the difference was palpable, and I was confident I had cracked the 700whp+ mark. The car’s 60-130mph times significantly improved, even with the full weight and stock exhaust still on at that point. It's amazing what a robust fueling system and a skilled tuner can achieve. My journey isn't over yet! I'm currently looking forward to hitting 750whp with a new exhaust setup. I've upgraded to an ARM GIN DP and plan to run an ARM MIDPIPE/SINGLE EXIT system. I’m eager to get it on the dyno once these are installed to see the official numbers. My advice for anyone looking to modify their 340i? Plan your build, ensure your fueling can support your power goals, and don't underestimate the impact of a good exhaust system. Always prioritize reliability, and work with experienced tuners. The B58 platform is fantastic, and with the right modifications, it can truly be a beast on the road!
