📍 Battlecreek Falls, Utah County
I went Sunday morning, and it was pretty empty! Here are some things you should know:
• There is a massive parking lot, and apparently Saturdays it completely fills up!
• There’s also a bathroom at the trailhead which is so nice.
• Dog-friendly (I think they have to be leashed? Not 100% sure).
• The massive water falls (the main event) is just a .5 mile from the parking lot! It’s super family-friendly. I saw lots of little kids, older adults, and people wearing hiking clothes to people walking in birkenstocks! A very chill, fast, and rewarding hike to the first little bit.
• I kept going to do the whole 5-mile loop! If you go about .1 mile behind the first big falls, you’ll see some smaller falls and some really cool spots to sit along the river. 10/10.
• After the second smaller falls, it gets pretty exposed to the sun and there are very few people, so practice safety tips if you go alone. It’s got some steep shale parts that were slippery, but overall not too hard. I’d say “hard” on all trails is a little bit of an exaggeration.
• WILDLIFE NOTE: I spotted of spiders with eggs, lizards, two snakes, owls, butterflies, AND A MOOSE. Please be safe!
As always, please pack out all your trash! It’s a fairly clean trail but I did find quite a bit of litter.

I recently had the chance to spend a morning hiking at Battlecreek Falls in Utah County, and I can confidently say it’s one of the most enjoyable and accessible hikes I've experienced. What makes this trail particularly friendly is how welcoming it is to hikers of all ages and abilities. During my hike, I noticed families with young children, seniors taking it easy, and casual walkers in sandals alongside avid hikers. This diversity really spoke to the trail's easy access and natural beauty. One of the highlights was the impressive waterfall, located just half a mile from the parking area. For those looking for a quick and rewarding outing, reaching that spot is perfect. If you decide to extend your adventure, continuing on the five-mile loop offers serene views of smaller waterfalls and peaceful riverside spots ideal for relaxing or picnicking. It's important to note that after the second smaller waterfall, the trail becomes more exposed to sunlight with fewer visitors, so carry enough water, wear sun protection, and be cautious on some slippery shale sections. Being prepared enhances safety and comfort. Wildlife enthusiasts will appreciate the variety of creatures seen along the trail. I spotted spiders with egg sacs, lizards, snakes, owls, butterflies, and even a moose, which made the hike memorable. Always respect wildlife and maintain a safe distance. Another convenient feature is the trailhead amenities, including a large parking lot and a bathroom facility, which are often missing in many hiking areas. However, do plan to arrive early, especially on weekends, as parking fills up quickly. Lastly, I was glad to see that the trail is dog-friendly, though I recommend bringing a leash. As with any natural area, please responsibly pack out all your trash to keep this beautiful spot clean for others. Overall, Battlecreek Falls is a wonderful destination for both locals and visitors seeking a scenic, moderately easy hike with rewarding views and rich nature encounters.
