2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬ 🥾

... Read moreThis verse, 2 Corinthians 5:7, has always resonated deeply with me. It’s so much more than just words on a page; it’s a powerful invitation to a different way of living. I often find myself reflecting on it during my quiet time, especially when things feel uncertain or when I'm faced with big decisions. What does it truly mean to 'walk by faith, not by sight'? For me, it means trusting God's plan even when I can't see the next step. It's about letting go of the need for visible proof or guaranteed outcomes and leaning into His promises. When I face challenges, my first instinct might be to look for a clear, logical solution, but this scripture reminds me to look to God first, believing He's already working things out, even if I don't see how yet. It's a surrender of control, really. Paul, writing to the Corinthians, was addressing the contrast between our temporary, earthly existence and our eternal, heavenly dwelling. He understood that our present circumstances can be tough, often feeling like we're living in a fragile 'tent.' But he encouraged them, and us, to fix our eyes on the unseen, the eternal realities of God's kingdom. Our physical eyes can only perceive so much – the immediate problems, the apparent lack – but faith allows us to grasp a reality far greater than what’s immediately apparent. It's about seeing with spiritual eyes. This is exactly where my bible journaling comes in handy! When I drew that simple shoe outline next to 2 Cor. 5:7 in my Bible, it was more than just an illustration. It became a personal, visual reminder that every step I take should be guided by faith. It’s a powerful image that helps cement the message in my mind: it’s not about having perfect vision for the entire path ahead, but about having perfect trust in the Guide who holds the map. Think about it: how many times do we put off doing something important because we're waiting for all the pieces to fall into place perfectly? Walking by faith means taking that first, often uncertain, step even when you only have enough light for that one footfall. It's about believing that God will illuminate the next part of the path as you go, step by step. It's a continuous act of relying on Him. It's a daily practice, really, and not always easy. It’s easy to say 'I walk by faith,' but living it out takes intentionality and courage. For me, it often means praying for divine guidance instead of frantically trying to force my own solutions, or choosing to believe in God's provision even when my bank account looks concerningly low. It's about finding genuine peace in the unknown, knowing that God is sovereign and good, and His timing is perfect. This profound scripture pushes us to move beyond our immediate circumstances and embrace a deeper, more profound trust. It’s a freedom from anxiety, a quiet confidence that transcends what our eyes can see. I hope this little reflection helps you too! Next time you open your Bible to 2 Corinthians 5:7, remember that powerful call to live a life fueled by unwavering belief, not just what you see around you. What does 'walking by faith, not by sight' look like for you in your life today? Share your thoughts!
