Courage to curate content

Im trying to grow online after being pretty idle on socials for a few years.

After I had my second baby I pretty much went dark on all platforms for a year.

Then I got back on but was so afraid to post for so long.

2026 is a different vibe for me and I’m trying to put myself out there more. Not only on social but IRL too. I started at a new gym, I am building new communities, and I am even changing career fields.

So I’m taking this opportunity to be vulnerable online as well. Challenging myself to post daily (just on TikTok to get started) but I love the layout of Lemon8 so eventually I want to grow here too.

Here’s a TikTok I made recently of my favorite recipe: cake mix cookies!

1 box cake mix (any flavor - here I used yellow cake mix)

2 eggs

1/2 cup oil (I do vegetable but if you want it sweeter you can try coconut)

Bake at 350 for about 9 mins, then chill.

Frost and top however your heart desires!

Change is often uncomfortable, but embracing it — like switching career fields or trying new social spaces — brings growth. I encourage others to start small, whether it’s sharing a simple favorite recipe like my cake mix cookies or showing daily life snippets. Speaking of cake mix cookies, they’re a perfect beginner-friendly recipe for new content creators who want to share something enjoyable without complicated steps. Using any cake mix you like, adding eggs and oil, then baking briefly yields delicious treats that you can top however you want. This simple, fun recipe has sparked engagement because it taps into a nostalgic, easy baking win that anyone can try. Ultimately, the courage to curate content comes from embracing vulnerability and consistency. Growing online isn’t about perfection—it’s about authenticity and connection.
