DIY Statement Hanging Shelves on a Budget
For this focal wall, I wanted to create something unique that would catch the eye, since it's the first thing you see when you walk into this space.
We built these custom shelves from scratch to add a spark and bring an industrial vibe to the bedroom. The height of the wood planks can be adjusted, and the shelves can be moved to other spaces in the future. For added security, they can be anchored to the wall.
These shelves would typically cost between 1K-2K online, but we made them for just $300. It wasn’t difficult at all! Took us 2 days to made it.
What we used:
- Zinc-plated chains (use black chains if available)
- Marupa planks
- Wood stain
- Gloss enamel black paint
- Ceiling hooks
- Bolts
- Nuts
For the walls, we chose micro-cement, and for the column, we used wallpaper to create contrast. What do you think?
