How I always travel period-free

Ever feel really sian when your travel period coincides with your period? The thought of changing pads in a new environment, not knowing if the toilets would be clean enough, or even checking often so that you won’t stain your pants.. kinda ruins the time I have overseas

I was determined to not have my period during my holidays one day and i did my research and decided to visit the GP and ask about it. I was prescribed the generic norethisterone which helps to delay my period! Had to take it 2/3 days before my period for 3 times a day and my period will come 2/3 days after i stop taking the pills.

I have been taking it multiple times so that my holidays would be period free! As much as it sounds like a magical thing, i would get the most period feeling - like mini cramps to warn that my

period was coming, but i assured my it wasn’t coming because i was taking the pill… but the pain was there everyday😭

Also, when my period came, I had the worst cramps this month that I was sweating and puking because of the pain😭 I guess it’s give and take.. PICK YOUR POISON!

The pills do come with side effects that differ for everyone so i guess you have to weigh your pros and cons which i feel that it’s still worth to not have the trouble of changing my pad when overseas…

... Read moreFor many travelers, managing periods on the road is challenging, especially when access to clean bathrooms is uncertain. One convenient solution I found is using norethisterone, a progesterone pill that delays menstruation when taken correctly. I usually start taking it 2 to 3 days before my expected period, three times a day, which postpones bleeding until a few days after stopping the medication. Keep in mind, the process isn’t without side effects; some days I experienced mild cramps or discomfort as a warning sign of my period trying to start. When my period finally arrived after stopping the pills, the cramps could be quite intense, sometimes making me nauseous. It's truly a trade-off, but for me, avoiding period hassles during travel was worth it. Before trying norethisterone, it's important to consult a GP to ensure it's safe for your health condition. Also, be aware that individual responses can vary—some may experience more side effects than others. If you prefer natural approaches, apps that track your cycle, like iOS period tracker apps, can help plan trips around lighter days. Additionally, simple travel hacks, such as carrying enough sanitary supplies, packing wipes, and choosing accommodation with reliable bathroom facilities, complement the medication method. For those flying, some wonder if norethisterone affects air travel. Generally, it does not, but checking with your doctor is wise. Remember to weigh pros and cons: for me, the convenience and peace of mind during holidays outweigh occasional cramps. If you decide to try this approach, setting reminders to take your progesterone pill on time can help maintain effectiveness. Safe and period-free travels await with proper planning and care!

according to 1st gynae, it will reset the period cycle. and according to 2nd gynae, it has the worst period cramp after the "Controlled " period. when my wife feedback to the 1st gynae, he say the med should not have this effect. doctors are human, they don't have encyclopedia knowledge of med. do more research of the med. if the convenient it give are worthy, than it causing more harm to your body when you are older.
