Aldi’s Carne Asada Tacos
What I eat in a day: Home Edition🥘
There’s nothing quite like a homemade taco night, and I’ve found that Aldi is an absolute goldmine for making incredible Carne Asada Tacos without breaking the bank! When I’m planning my 'What I eat in a day' home edition, these tacos are always a winner because they’re so easy to put together and taste like they came from a restaurant. Let's talk tortillas first, because they're the foundation of any great taco. I absolutely swear by Pueblo Lindo tortillas, and thankfully, Aldi often carries them! For this carne asada, I usually reach for the Pueblo Lindo yellow corn tortillas – the 30-count pack is such a fantastic deal. They have that authentic, slightly nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with the beef. However, if you prefer a softer, more pliable taco, don’t hesitate to grab the Pueblo Lindo flour tortillas or even their fajita flour tortillas. They're equally delicious and offer a different texture. My top tip for warming them up is to use a dry pan over medium heat for about 20-30 seconds per side until they’re soft and slightly toasted – it makes all the difference! Now, for the star of the show: the Aldi carne asada. When I’m doing my grocery run, I always look for the Black Angus Extra Thin Cut Beef for Carne Picada. This cut is ideal because it cooks quickly and gets those lovely crispy edges we all love in carne asada. While Aldi sometimes has pre-marinated options, I often buy the plain beef and add my own simple marinade. A little lime juice, some chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and a secret ingredient – a dash of Knorr beef bouillon! It adds an incredible depth of flavor that really elevates the meat. You can pan-fry it quickly for a weeknight meal or even throw it on the grill if you have time for that smoky char. To complete this home edition feast, I love adding some simple sides. Goya Pinto Beans are a staple in my pantry; they’re super easy to heat up and provide a hearty, satisfying element. Spanish rice is another fantastic addition, turning your taco night into a full fiesta. And of course, fresh toppings are a must! Plenty of fresh cilantro, a generous squeeze of lime, and maybe some chopped onions or a sprinkle of cotija cheese. For a fun twist, I sometimes whip up a quick creamy sauce using Happy Farms Original Cream Cheese, thinned out with a little lime juice and a dash of hot sauce – it’s an unexpected but delicious addition to these savory tacos. And to wash it all down? Those Pur Aqua Sparkling Frost Cherry Limeade drinks from Aldi are surprisingly refreshing and a perfect match for the spicy flavors of the tacos. It's truly a meal that feels special but is so simple to create right in your own kitchen!
