There have been times, which I now lovingly refer to as 'survival mode,' where I was simply doing my best to get by. Looking back, it's clear how easy it might have been for someone to misinterpret my actions or my outward demeanor during those periods. But those experiences were crucial for shaping the person I am today. Learning to say, 'I forgive myself for who I was in survival mode,' has been a truly liberating step in my personal journey. It’s a reminder that everyone is constantly evolving, and our past selves, no matter how messy, deserve compassion and understanding, not judgment. Approaching another birthday, as August rolls around, always makes me pause and take stock. It’s a time for celebrating where I am, but also for acknowledging all the steps, big and small, that led me here. It’s about embracing the layers of my own being, the visible and the hidden, and allowing myself to be authentically me. This personal reflection reinforces my belief that we owe it to ourselves and to others to look beyond the surface.
