It truly feels like I'm leveling up on Twitch, and I wanted to share my journey and what this new status means for my channel and anyone hoping to achieve it too.
For those wondering, becoming a Twitch Affiliate means your channel is now part of Twitch's monetization program. It's a stepping stone towards making streaming a more sustainable hobby, or even a career! Before, I was just streaming for fun, but now, I can actually start earning revenue from ads, subscriptions, and Bits. This is a game-changer!
My journey to hitting the Path To Affiliate milestones wasn't always easy, but it was definitely rewarding. If you're on the same path, you'll know Twitch has specific affiliate requirements you need to meet. For me, it was all about consistently streaming for at least 8 hours over 7 unique days, averaging 3 concurrent viewers, and having 50 followers. I kept a close eye on my Twitch creator dashboard under the Path to Affiliate section to track my progress. Seeing that 'Path To Affiliate completed' message pop up was incredibly satisfying!
Now that I'm an affiliate, I've spent some time exploring the Twitch Affiliate dashboard. It’s where you manage everything from your payout information to your emote slots and subscription tiers. I was most excited to check out the Twitch affiliate dashboard earnings section. It gives you a clear overview of your potential Twitch affiliate revenue from different sources. You can see your estimated earnings from ads run during your streams, income from Tier 1 subscriptions (which I was thrilled to see I’ve already received a gifted one!), and the value of any Bits cheered by your viewers. It's so cool to see these numbers start to appear in the Twitch revenue dashboard!
One of the biggest benefits I’m looking forward to is enabling the Twitch subscribe with Prime option for my viewers. This means Amazon Prime members can subscribe to my channel for free, which is a fantastic way to grow my community and provide value to them. Beyond earnings, other Twitch affiliate benefits include custom channel emotes, channel points, and the ability to run polls and predictions. I even saw a notification about being eligible for Marvel Rivals game loot because of my affiliate status, which is a fun bonus!
So, how to get Twitch Affiliate? Based on my experience, consistency is key! Set a regular streaming schedule, engage with your chat, and play games you genuinely enjoy. Don't be afraid to experiment with different content to see what resonates with your audience. Building a community takes time, but it’s worth it. Keep checking your Twitch affiliate requirements dashboard to see how close you are.
This is just the beginning for me. While becoming a Twitch Affiliate is a huge milestone, I know the next step is aiming for Twitch Partner status. But for now, I'm just incredibly grateful and excited to make the most of being an affiliate. Keep an eye out for my next stream – maybe I'll break down the dashboard more in-depth!
