It's 5 AM, and my alarm is blaring – the universal sign for my "GRWM for the gym before work" routine! As a Habesha girl on a fitness journey, I've found a solid routine is key to motivating myself for morning workouts. I want to share my personal tips to help you hit the gym feeling fresh and ready to conquer your day. First things first: Hydration & Pre-Workout Fuel. Before anything else, I chug a big glass of water. Then, I grab a small, easily digestible snack like a banana or a handful of almonds. This is my "First" step to fueling my body without feeling sluggish. Workout Gear Essentials. I'm a huge fan of Lululemon! Their activewear is comfortable and durable. For morning sessions, I opt for high-waisted leggings and a supportive sports bra with a lightweight tank. Comfort is key – no adjusting clothes mid-squat! Choose pieces that boost your confidence. Hair Care for Active Black Hair. As a #blackhairtiktok enthusiast, I know the struggle of maintaining coils and curls while staying active. My go-to is a protective style: braids, twists, or a slicked-back bun. This keeps hair securely out of my face, preventing frizz and excessive sweating. Post-workout, I use dry shampoo or a refreshing hair mist to keep things fresh until wash day, minimizing fuss for your hair type. Minimal Skincare & Beauty Prep. For the gym, I keep it super minimal. A quick cleanse, light moisturizer, and SPF. I love SALT & STONE products for a refreshing feel. No heavy makeup; a tinted lip balm (maybe Valentino.Beauty!) is usually all I need. The goal is to feel good, not photoshoot-ready! Don't FORGET YOUR Gym Bag Essentials! I've learned the hard way what it’s like to show up unprepared. My non-negotiables: a good water bottle, small towel, headphones (music is my ultimate motivator!), and a quick post-workout protein bar. I also keep a mini deodorant and travel-sized body wipes for a quick refresh if I’m heading straight to work. These small items make a huge difference. Cultivating a Fitness Mindset. As part of my #ethiopianfitness and #habeshafitness journey, it’s not just about physical strength but mental too. Some mornings, motivation is low. On those days, I remind myself of my goals, the energy boost, and how great I’ll feel afterward. It's about building consistent habits and celebrating small victories. Your fitness journey is unique; embrace it, be kind to yourself, and remember why you started. I hope these tips help you create your own empowering "gym GRWM" routine.
