Abide in God

Whatever we abide in will determine the fruit of our lives.

If we are rooted in the infinite scroll of social media, it will form us likely into people who are angry, anxious, arrogant, simplistic, or distracted.

If we are rooted in the endless queues of our streaming platforms, it will likely form us into people who are lustful, restless, and bored, never present to what is.

If we are rooted in the pursuit of hedonism, another drink, another toke, or another hookup to take the edge off the pain. We will likely be formed into people who are compulsive, addictive, and running from our pain and at the same time, our healing.

But if we are rooted in the inner life of God, it will grow the fruit of the spirit in our life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Ask yourself what it would look like for you to make your home inside God.

All of this is not about holing yourself up in a monastery but about learning to be in 2 places at once.

Eating your breakfast and being with Jesus…

On your morning commute and being with Jesus…

Changing another diaper and being with Jesus…

Sorting through your inbox and being with Jesus…

It’s about turning our body into a temple, a place of overlap between heaven and earth.

1 Corinthians chapter 6 verse 19 says, “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,”

Thanks for watching and God Bless.

When we focus on our inner life with God, we cultivate peace in our hearts, allowing us to respond to life’s challenges with love and patience. This practice isn't about escape but rather the integration of spiritual mindfulness into our daily routines. Imagine starting your day by consciously inviting God into your moments—whether enjoying your morning coffee or during a busy commute. These seemingly mundane activities can become sacred when we acknowledge the divine presence in them. Scripture encourages believers to consider their bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, emphasizing that our physical presence can bridge the gap between the worldly and the spiritual. Moreover, the concept of abiding in God is not merely about meditation; it involves active engagement with the world around us while remaining anchored in divine wisdom. By reflecting on biblical teachings, particularly the fruits of the Spirit, we can gauge our growth. Are we exhibiting self-control, kindness, and gentleness in our interactions? Are we cultivating a mindset of gratitude? In embracing our identity as children of God, we position ourselves for transformation. Our lives, influenced by our commitment to God, begin to reflect an inner peace that transcends momentary trials. Practicing such an abiding life empowers believers to navigate their daily activities with grace and joy, ultimately impacting those around them. Commencing this journey may require intentionality, but the lasting impact of a life rooted in God far surpasses any surface-level fulfillment that the world can offer.
