CRISPY OYSTER OMELETTE, HOKKIEN MEE & CKT 🦐🍝🦪

📍 sing hi noodle

this hidden gem hawker stall is tucked away in a small coffeeshop in hougang, serving up AMAZING wok fried classics like hokkien prawn mee, ipoh char kway teow, oyster omelette and fried rice 🍚 basically, anything that comes out of their wok is super delicious!!!

out of the four dishes i tried, my favourite was the ipoh fried kway teow 😋 it was perfectly savoury, not too oily, and had a nice hit of wok hei (could always use more though 👀). portions were really generous too, especially for just $5!

their signature hokkien prawn mee was great as well. it’s the wetter style, with a good amount of pork belly, prawns and pork lard 🐷🦐 their sambal is SUPER spicy but paired so well with the noodles, especially with a squeeze of lime.

for those who think rice > noodles 🍚, the thai fried rice is a solid option. must also get their local hong kong style seabass 🐟 it was nicely battered and fried, and super flaky on the inside.

as a sharing dish, the oyster omelette is a must 🦪 each piece is quite thin, so you get crispy edges while the centre stays chewy and starchy. there’s a good balance of egginess and flour, the chilli was sooo yumz, and the oysters were plump and juicy. i don’t usually eat oysters, but this one totally converted me 🤩

overall, this is a solid spot for wok fried singaporean classics. prices are affordable, portions are generous, and everything tasted amazing. definitely worth checking out if you’re around hougang or tpy 😊

SING HI FRY 辛海五炒
1/31 Edited to

... Read moreIf you’re a fan of classic Singaporean hawker fare, then Sing Hi Noodle in Hougang is definitely worth a visit. From my experience, the Ipoh Char Kway Teow stood out with its perfectly balanced savory flavors and just enough wok hei to give it that signature smoky aroma—though I always wish there was just a bit more! The portion size was generous and incredibly satisfying for just $5, making it great value for money. For those who enjoy noodle dishes with rich, hearty broths, the Hokkien Prawn Mee is a real treat. It features ample pork belly, fresh prawns, and pork lard that add depth to the dish. The wet style broth was comforting and well-seasoned, complemented perfectly by their very spicy sambal and a touch of lime juice to brighten the flavors. Pairing these elements creates a delicious, spicy, and tangy combination that really elevates the meal. If you lean more towards rice than noodles, the Royal Thai Fried Rice here is a solid choice too. It’s packed with local flavors and cooked just right to keep the grains fluffy yet packed with taste. Another highlight to share is their local Hong Kong-style seabass, which is beautifully battered and fried, creating a crispy exterior and flaky interior that pairs wonderfully with their other dishes. The oyster omelette was actually a pleasant surprise for me—usually I’m not big on oysters, but the thin, crispy edges combined with a chewy, starchy center and juicy plump oysters won me over. The balance of egg and flour batter, along with the accompanying chili sauce, made each bite flavorful and satisfying. Overall, Sing Hi Noodle excels at delivering classic wok-fried Singaporean dishes in a humble setting without compromising on taste or portion. It’s a must-visit for anyone exploring Hougang’s hawker scene who wants authentic flavors, generous servings, and great value for money. Just a heads up: if you’re sensitive to spice, ask for the sambal on the side, as it’s quite fiery but delicious when paired. Next time you’re around the area, give this spot a try—you might just find yourself coming back for their signature dishes and those crispy oyster omelettes that made my visit memorable.
