this hbb recently opened her first physical store, serving up beautiful artisanal bakes like financiers, madeleines, bundt cakes and more.
my first impression was that everything looked so thoughtfully made 😊 each bake was beautifully finished, with every topping placed intentionally to complement the flavours. even the cookies came in a cute oven-shaped box, which made the whole experience feel extra special 🎁
i got to try a variety of their bakes, and my favourites were the chocolate banana madeleine, seasalt caramel madeleine and teh gao cashew financier.
i tend to enjoy desserts with a bit of contrast, so the seasalt caramel madeleine was right up my alley. the salt balanced the sweetness nicely, while the teh gao cashew financier had a slight bitterness that kept it from being overly sweet. the chocolate banana madeleine was rich and slightly bittersweet, which paired really well with the sweetness of the banana.
i also liked that the bakes were a little bigger than your usual madeleines and financiers. one was actually quite satisfying, which isn’t always the case 😆
the eggless walnut cookies were another highlight. they had a crumbly, melt-in-your-mouth texture that made them dangerously easy to snack on.
