this artisanal home bakery has just started operations in singapore after 7 years in phnom penh. they specialise in hearty sourdough loaves that are packed with nutrients 🍞
their menu includes a wide variety of sourdough loaves, from the classic plain loaf to ones filled with seeds and savoury flavours like garlic, cheese, jalapeños and more. i tried their plain sourdough and seeded dark rye sourdough.
the plain sourdough had a crisp crust with a satisfying crunch, while the inside had nice air pockets throughout. it was chewy and moist, which paired really well with the crust! i also loved its mild tanginess, and the nutty aroma hit me the moment i opened the bag.
compared to the plain loaf, the seeded dark rye was a lot denser, but also really nutrient packed, so it kept me full and satisfied. it’s perfect with scrambled eggs and avocado, or even enjoyed on its own.
overall, you can really tell that the loaves are well perfected. they’re located in amk, just a convenient walk from lentor mrt :) check them out!

Sam's Kitchen nails this with their plain sourdough, which delivers a satisfying crunch paired with a moist, chewy interior. The nutty aroma and mild tanginess make it stand out as the kind of bread perfect for everything—from a simple butter spread to an elaborate sandwich.
What I find particularly interesting about Sam's seeded dark rye sourdough is its density and nutrient richness, which help keep hunger at bay longer. Rye flour is known for its health benefits including fiber and essential minerals, making it a fantastic choice for those seeking both flavor and sustenance. The addition of seeds enhances not only texture but nutritional value, providing healthy fats and proteins.
For enthusiasts like me, enjoying seeded dark rye with soft scrambled eggs and creamy avocado creates a wholesome breakfast that’s both comforting and energizing. It’s also a great option for people wanting nutrient-dense bread that complements various toppings or stands well on its own.
Located conveniently near Lentor MRT in Ang Mo Kio, Sam’s Kitchen offers accessibility for local foodies and bread lovers. The transition from Phnom Penh to Singapore has clearly allowed them to perfect their recipes, delivering consistent quality in each loaf.
If you’re exploring home bakeries or sourdough options in Singapore, checking out this local gem will broaden your palate and support artisanal baking traditions. Sampling their range gives you an appreciation of the craft behind each loaf—something that mass-produced breads simply can’t replicate.
