Happy Sunday 🤎 (2 Corinthians 5:16–17)
Good morning + Happy Sunday
Today I read 2 Corinthians 5:16–17, and it reminded me of something I still need to hear often:
“Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun.” (NLT)
Sometimes, it’s easy to hold on to who we used to be. The mistakes, the doubt, the parts of ourselves we try to hide. But God doesn’t see us through that lens anymore.
When we give our lives to Him, we are made new. Not patched up. Not slightly better. New.
And that kind of transformation calls for a new way of thinking, a new perspective.
One that sees ourselves and others through His eyes, not ours.
So here’s my reflection today:
Am I living like I’ve been made new?
Does my life reflect that shift?
You are not who you were.
You are becoming exactly who He created you to be.

After my reflection on 2 Corinthians 5:16-17, the idea of truly being a 'new creation' keeps resonating with me. It’s more than just a nice thought; it’s a profound truth that can completely reshape our lives and bring a deep sense of inner peace. When the verse says, 'The old life is gone; a new life has begun,' it’s an invitation to let go of the burdens we’ve carried, the mistakes that haunt us, and the doubts that cloud our judgment. This isn’t always easy, but acknowledging that 'old things have passed away' is the first step towards a freedom that truly brings peace of mind. I've been thinking about how this transformation impacts not just ourselves, but also how we interact with the world and 'love another.' When we start seeing ourselves through God’s eyes – as cherished, redeemed, and made new – it naturally extends to how we view others. It cultivates empathy and forgiveness, understanding that everyone is on their own journey, and we can offer grace because we've received it. It's a wonderful ripple effect: as we embrace our new identity, our capacity to love grows, and our relationships become more meaningful. This journey of living as a 'new creation' also ties into the principle of 'sow and reap.' When we sow seeds of faith, forgiveness, and a renewed perspective, we inevitably reap a harvest of peace, joy, and stronger connections. It’s about being intentional with our thoughts and actions. Are we sowing seeds of doubt and fear, clinging to our 'old self,' or are we planting seeds of hope and transformation, trusting that 'all things have become new'? The harvest we desire – that deep, abiding peace – comes from consistent spiritual cultivation. For me, embracing this 'new creation' daily involves several things. Sometimes it's as simple as stepping outside and finding quiet moments in nature, perhaps watching a scenic sunset over a lake with a tree and a bench, and reflecting on the beauty of God's creation, connecting to the peace found there. Other times, it's diving into an open Bible page, specifically to reread 2 Corinthians 5:17, letting its truth sink deep into my heart. It’s a powerful reminder that our identity isn't based on our past, but on who Christ has made us to be.
