Brown Butter Buttercream… 🤤

So Deliciously perfect for all things FALL! 🍂🍁🎃🍠

Here’s how I made it:

Brown Butter Buttercream Recipe

Ingredients:

-2 sticks (1 cup) salted butter

-4 to 5 cups powdered sugar (adjust to your desired sweetness and consistency)

-2-3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream (for creaminess)

-1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract.

Instructions:

1. Brown one stick of Butter:

In a small saucepan, melt 1 stick of salted butter over medium heat.

Keep stirring as the butter melts and starts to foam. As it cooks, you’ll notice the butter changing color and little brown bits forming at the bottom (that’s the good stuff! KEEP ALL OF IT) The butter will smell nutty and fragrant. Once the butter turns a golden-brown color, immediately remove it from heat. Pour it into a bowl, cover, and let it cool in fridge. Almost forming a solid butter again. You want it soft and not completely solid.

2. Make the Buttercream:

In a mixing bowl, beat the other stick of room temp butter and the cooled brown butter until smooth and creamy. Gradually start adding in the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated. Next,

add the vanilla and 2 tablespoons of milk or heavy cream. Mix again. If the buttercream is too thick, add more milk as needed, one teaspoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.

3. Whip:

Once all ingredients are combined, whip the buttercream on high for about 2-3 minutes until it’s light and fluffy. The longer you whip, the fluffier it gets!

4. Pipe, Frost and Enjoy!

*You can refrigerate or freeze any leftover buttercream for use at a later date.
