Our Love Story
This is the story of how I met my husband and some pictures from throughout our whole relationship that mean a lot to me. Think of it like a story through pictures.
We met in December of 2017. We both worked at a restaurant named Rosita’s and he was the dishwasher and I was a waitress. Our first conversation was when he accidentally splashed me with water as I was setting up the tea canister to get it washed and the first words to come out of my mouth were, “you got me all wet!” After a small pause, I continued with, “NO, NOT LIKE THAT!” As almost everyone in the kitchen heard me and began to laugh. He smiles and I’m blushing nervously. It was after that moment we began to talk more as coworkers. It wasn’t until later that there had been a rumor that someone in the “back” (referring to the kitchen staff) thinks I’m pretty. That someone was Roger. At first I didn’t think much of it because it was merely a compliment, but later he began checking me out and I could feel him staring at me as I would walk past him. Soon I started falling for him. It wasn’t until the following year, right at the beginning of the new year (2018), I asked him out. I had asked him out on a date on the second day of the year, and on the third day was our very first date. Since we really didn’t take any pictures that day, our first picture is the second slide, so we’ll start there. 😀
❤️The second slide is our very first picture together (2018). This was his first time coming over to my house (a few weeks after we’d been dating), he accidentally met almost all of my mom’s entire family. We were having a lotería night and I had invited him over. But instead of playing with my family, we went straight to my room and just chilled. We just talked that night.
❤️ The third slide is a picture going on our second year together. Easter 2019. This was the second year we spent easter at the nursing home because my grandfather was ill, and we wanted to spend easter with him. I love this picture because we look (and are) so in love.
❤️The fourth slide is during October of 2020. We were living in our first apartment together and had wanted to do this tiktok trend of couples doing photo shoots with pumpkin heads. We loved doing this!
❤️The fifth slide is of Easter 2021. This time it was at my parent’s house. Me and Roger were still living on our own and we wanted to take pictures together for the yearly instagram post. This picture was taken so well by my sister and we literally look so amazing. It almost looks professional!
❤️ 2022. Some random day I decided to take a selfie of us just because. We were feeling silly and chaotic even though our situation was pretty bad. It was days like these that I genuinely love. We were on our bed and I randomly took selfies of us to set as my new profile picture for facebook and this one was the best.
❤️ February 2023. Not really thinking much of it, my parents had invited us for a cookout. I genuinely thought that my whole family would be there, but they weren’t. It was just us, my parents and one of my uncles. I remember being so shocked at his question I didn’t believe him at first because he’s a massive jokster and loves joking around. I feel kind of bad for taking so long to answer, but I said yes and apologized after for taking so long to answer. This was our first picture as fiancés.
❤️Lastly, January 5th, 2024. Our wedding day. Our first kiss as husband and wife. Sometimes I forget that I’m actually a whole WIFE. It’s so surreal marrying your best friend. He is 100% my soulmate and my other half. He is the Mickey to my Minnie, the Prince Charming to my Snow White, the Bob to my Linda, and all the iconic couples like these. (My personal fave is Bob and Linda from Bob’s Burgers) I am so ecstatic that I finally found the man of my dreams. The person I’m meant to be with.
This is our love story. Roger has been with me through me through thick and thin. From taking me to dialysis, to waiting patiently in the lobby of a hospital after receiving my second kidney transplant, through our financial struggles, and much more. Our relationship wasn't always just fun times like making silly faces for selfies or carving pumpkin heads for TikTok. We faced some really significant hurdles, especially with my health. I briefly mentioned dealing with dialysis and a kidney transplant, and honestly, those were some of the hardest times of our lives. I remember Roger patiently waiting in the hospital lobby during my transplant, just being there, a silent pillar of strength. It highlighted how crucial it is to have a partner who stands by you, not just during the good times, but especially when life throws its toughest curveballs. Finding someone who truly understands “in sickness and in health” before you even say your vows is a gift. Through financial struggles, health crises, and all the everyday chaos, our love grew stronger. We celebrated milestones like Easter together, making memories even when my grandfather was ill.
