... Read moreMaking friends during your first year at university can feel challenging, especially if you're naturally shy or introverted. I remember my own experience starting uni—I felt nervous and tended to keep to myself at first. But joining groups or sharing your interests online can be a great way to break the ice. For example, being an enthusiast of BL dramas, like "Semantic Error" or "Abo Desire," can help connect you with others who share those niche interests.
When it comes to variety shows like 跑男 (Running Man), joining fan forums or social media groups can keep you in the loop about new seasons and create lively discussions. If you find yourself running out of Chinese rom-com dramas to watch, exploring recommendations on platforms like Viki, iQIYI, or WeTV can introduce you to hidden gems.
Running and walking outdoors is indeed a wonderful way to clear your mind and enjoy nature's beauty, especially during sunsets. If the gym feels intimidating, consider beginner-friendly fitness classes or workout apps that guide you step-by-step. Starting gradually helps build confidence and turns fitness into a fun part of your routine.
In terms of music, mixing English artists like Henry Moodie and Taylor Swift with Chinese cover artists enriches your playlist and keeps listening fresh and exciting. Don't hesitate to explore music communities or attend local live performances—it’s another perfect way to meet friends with similar tastes.
Lastly, embracing your love for food and sweets by discovering new eateries and cafes across Singapore is a fantastic way to socialize while enjoying your favorite treats. Coffee shops and dessert spots often host events or have communal seating conducive to striking up casual conversations.
Overall, sharing your genuine interests and taking small social steps can open up rewarding friendships during university life. Keep being yourself, and new friends will find their way to you!
