Ask Derms: What should I do for my sweaty forehead in my skincare routine? 🤔🧐

My skincare routine is good. But it could be better. I still get pimples from time to time on my forehead. What are your recommendations for us sweaty gals?

My skin is combination. Dry in the winter mostly.

I use Cera Ve hydrating cleanser with an exfoliating pad in the shower. Then I’ll use a noxema pad to get any dirt/oil off my face the cleanser may have missed. Lastly, I’ll use cera ve night cream or hyaluronic acid cream to moisturize.

... Read moreDealing with a sweaty forehead that leads to pimples can be really frustrating, but adjusting your skincare routine specifically for this challenge can make a huge difference. From personal experience, I found that incorporating lightweight, non-comedogenic products helped reduce the greasy feel without clogging pores. One approach that works well for sweaty skin is to use oil-free, mattifying moisturizers that keep hydration balanced while controlling shine. Cleansing twice daily with a gentle foaming cleanser can remove excess sweat and oil buildup, which often contribute to pimples on the forehead. Exfoliation is also important but should be done moderately—about 1-2 times a week—to remove dead skin cells and prevent pore clogging without irritating sensitive areas. Ingredients like salicylic acid are great because they penetrate pores and reduce inflammation associated with breakouts. Additionally, you might consider using blotting papers during the day to absorb sweat and oil without disturbing your makeup or skincare. Setting sprays with a matte finish can also help keep your forehead looking fresh. Finally, lifestyle factors such as staying hydrated, avoiding touching your face, and washing pillowcases regularly play a crucial role in keeping the forehead area clear. It’s all about combining the right skincare products with thoughtful habits to address both sweating and pimples effectively.
