Took my granny out the country for the very first time. Just know It’s not about the money but the memories that you’ll forever have. 🩷
Taking my granny abroad for the first time was truly a life-changing experience. What stood out most wasn’t the expenses that came with the trip but the moments of joy and bonding that we'll cherish forever. Our journey to Panama was filled with cultural discovery, delicious food, and quality time that brought us even closer. If you’re considering taking a family member on their first international trip, I highly recommend budgeting carefully but focusing more on meaningful experiences rather than splurging. For instance, our round trip business class flight with Copa Airlines cost around $351,784 JMD, which allowed us comfort for the long journey. We stayed at The Westin Playa Bonita, a lovely hotel costing approximately $974 USD, offering amazing views and excellent hospitality. Transportation in Panama was affordable too—we used Uber for around $255 USD, which was convenient for exploring the city without hassle. Food was another highlight; indulging in local favorites like the Louisiana-style chicken at POPeyes and street snacks cost around $282 USD but gave us an authentic taste of Panama. Shopping was a bit of a treat, with Pandora jewelry and Chanel perfumes among our purchases, reminding me that while money is a factor, these souvenirs carry the emotion and story of our trip. Ultimately, the total expenses summed to about $8,860 USD, but the memories made with my granny were priceless. This journey reinforced that travel isn't about luxury alone but creating lasting bonds and stories to look back on. I hope my breakdown helps others plan their own memorable trips with loved ones without stress!
