Bali's Best Secret - Go Now Before Everyone Else!
Far North Bali - where the real paradise is:
My Tips: Lovina Beach
1. Getting there: Hire a private driver to take you (it's the easiest & cheapest) The drive itself is gorgeous - views, monkey's, totally authentic Bali
2. Stay: best is The Lovina Bali resort. Beautiful location, rooms, pools, food all fab & the staff will treat you like family! Tip: their spa treatments are crazy good but the secrets out so bookings are a must. (note: choose the right hotel - there's another hotel with a similar name and it's just not great, have pinned my fav below)
3. Visit Aling Aling watertall; swim, jump and slide, water is refreshing and so pure, then enjoy some jungle walks & the flower fields - it's all stunning!!
4. Walk -honestly, the best thing you can do in this area is simply to get out and do walks around the local village streets, out past the rice paddies, jungle and black sand beaches, you'll get glimpses into authentic bali life.
5. Food - heaps on offer from local warungs, bakeries and cafe's through to fancy places to eat.
Heaps cater to vegetarians. You can't go wrong.
6. Bars & Music - so many fun local bars with live music, loved Funky Place Lovina (vibes & band for sunset drinks - head to the sunset beach bar at The Lovina Bali Resort for happy hour cocktails & their live band!
7. 7. Rest and restore - hide away from other touristy, over crowded parts of the island and fall in love with Bali's slower paced, no 'BS' far north

If you're looking for a side of Bali that steers clear from the typical hustle and crowded beaches, Far North Bali is truly a hidden treasure worth the discovery. One of the highlights, Lovina Beach, offers more than just calm, black sand shores; it’s an invitation to immerse yourself in an authentic Bali vibe that’s slower paced yet rich in culture and natural beauty. Hiring a private driver was my go-to recommendation when visiting this area—not only is it cost-effective, but it also lets you enjoy the stunning scenery en route. The route itself is an adventure, with chances to see local monkeys and traditional villages that make the journey part of the experience. Accommodations like The Lovina Bali Resort elevate the stay with a welcoming atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and top-tier spa services. Knowing that spa bookings are essential due to popularity helped me plan in advance and enjoy some of the best treatments I've had anywhere. Exploring nature is a must. The Aling Aling waterfall is perfect for swimmers and thrill-seekers alike, with jumping and sliding spots that offer refreshing fun in pure waters surrounded by lush jungle. Afterward, taking walks through the nearby flower fields, rice paddies, and village streets reveals a side of Bali that many tourists miss. Food options vary from humble warungs to chic cafes, catering well to vegetarians and offering fresh, local flavors. Equally captivating is the local nightlife with bars hosting live music, especially the vibe at Funky Place Lovina and the sunset beach bar at The Lovina Bali Resort. They offer unforgettable sunset views paired with lively bands, crafting the perfect end to your day. Above all, this part of Bali invites you to rest, restore, and connect with a genuine slice of Indonesian life that’s far from the crowded south. For anyone craving a peaceful retreat blended with cultural authenticity and natural beauty, far north Bali is a must-explore destination before it gains wider popularity.
