1 HR WAIT?? CRISPIEST CHINESE HALAL ROTI

People have been queuing up to an hour for these Chinese rotis, we had to find out what’s actually driving the demand. Is it just a social media food trend, or is there something about the texture, flavour, and price point that genuinely makes people willing to wait?

🥩BEEF ROTI ($5) - 5/5

First bite came in HOT with an insanely crispy crunch. The exterior was flaky and buttery, while the inside stayed soft with a slight chew. Packed with juicy, heavily seasoned beef that leaned sweet, savoury and salty all at once, with onions adding a sharp sweetness and slight spice. The dough tasted like roti prata and was rolled perfectly where it was thin enough to stay crisp, but thick enough to hold all that flavour

🐥CHICKEN ROTI ($4.50) - 5/5

Just as crispy and satisfying as the beef version. Stuffed with a thick slab of chicken and loaded with bold seasoning just like the beef that really punches through. Super crunchy on the outside, juicy and flavourful inside. Though the beef was more salty.

⏱️WAITING TIMES - 4/5

There is usually a queue during peak hours. We visited around 1:30pm on a weekday, and there was minimal queue, with steady walk-ins throughout. Serving is also quite fast as they have a batch of already made ones

🛍️REPEATABILITY - 5/5

Would I come back again? Yes. This works perfectly as a casual snack to share with friends or family. Best to come off-peak to avoid queues. Strong flavour, great texture, and very satisfying overall. Queue shortens fast as many rotis were already fried in batches so do not worry.

⚠️ADVISORIES:

👯QUEUE TIME - Can reach up to 1 hour during peak periods

🛢️OILY - The roti is quite oily and heavy on the stomach.

🪑SEATING - Limited seating during busy hours in the kopitiam

💾If you’ve tried this before, comment your take - worth the queue or overhyped?

🧾TOTAL PAID: $9.50 for 2 pcs

... Read moreHaving tried Krispi Chinese Halal Roti multiple times, I can share a few tips that enhanced my experience which might help others considering the long queues. Firstly, visiting during off-peak hours like early afternoons on weekdays really helps avoid the intense wait times. While waiting up to an hour may happen during weekends or evenings, the shop prepares batches ahead which keeps service moving smoothly once it's your turn. The beef roti stood out to me for its well-balanced sweet and savory seasoning and the crispy yet tender roti texture. The onions add an excellent sharpness that cuts through the oily richness without overwhelming. The chicken roti is equally crispy but with a more straightforward bold flavor, heavier on the seasoning punch and a little less salty than the beef. Both versions offer a satisfying contrast between the flaky outside and soft inside. One thing to note is that the rotis are quite oily and filling, so I recommend enjoying them with light sides or as a snack rather than a full meal. Seating space at Bagus Kopitiam is quite limited, so if you're in a group, be prepared to take your food elsewhere or share seating. Finally, as someone who appreciates value, the $9.50 total for two generously filled rotis was reasonable for the quality offered. If you love trying trending but genuinely tasty street snacks, I'd say Krispi Chinese Halal Roti is definitely worth the hype and the wait.
