Men’s mental healthFrom a woman’s prospective
So, like, six months ago, I was working as a cashier at Dollar General, right? I got hired with this dude I used to work with at another job, and we clicked pretty fast. We were working together every day, so we became homies. One day, he comes in, and he's just not himself, ya know? After a couple hours, I was like, "I gotta check on him." Found him in the back, working, and I just asked, "You okay?" He was like, "Not gonna lie, nah." I asked if he wanted to talk about it, but he wasn't feeling it. So, I asked if he wanted to 💨 (ifykyk), and he was down. We went out front, and he told me he was just thinking about how I was the first person to ask him how he was doing in a long time. He opened up about how people don't really care how men feel; they just expect you to be a man and deal with it. He basically said a lot of dudes are depressed but hide it. After that, I started checking on the guys around me, and a lot of them are struggling mentally. So, yeah, we should check on people more, even if they're "supposed" to be tough. I was 18 at the time idk if that matters and he was around 20. #mentalhealthawareness
