This is where you transform the car's handling. High-quality coilovers are a must, allowing for precise height and dampening adjustments. But perhaps even more critical for drifting is increased steering angle. Aftermarket knuckles and tie rods are essential to get that extra lock, letting you hold those wide angles with confidence. I spent hours dialing in my suspension, finding that sweet spot where the car feels alive and predictable. Chassis rigidity is another game-changer. A roll cage isn't just for safety; it significantly stiffens the chassis, improving feedback and control. Weight reduction is also paramount. Stripping out unnecessary interior bits, lighter wheels – every pound makes a difference in how agile the RX-7 FC feels. And of course, the differential! A good 2-way limited-slip differential is non-negotiable for consistent power delivery to both rear wheels during a slide. Visually, I always loved the aggressive stance of a drift car. For my Mazda RX-7 FC drift build, I went for a striking two-tone look, inspired by some of the classic Japanese drift cars. The white front combined with a black hood and grey rear really makes it stand out on the track. Seeing it drift on an asphalt surface, with its pop-up headlights raised and the blurred trees and industrial structures flying by, is an incredible sight. It's not just about how it performs, but how it looks doing it. The feeling of initiating a drift, feeling the car slide, and then catching it perfectly is pure exhilaration.
