It's more than just aesthetics; getting the right look is a huge part of the build process, especially for a car that gets as much attention as an FC on the track or at meets. I’ve been debating colors for weeks – maybe a classic bright red, or something more unique like a deep metallic blue or even a subtle grey to let the lines of the FC3S really pop. What do you guys think? I’m leaning towards a color that will really make it stand out in photos, something that would look amazing as an FC3S wallpaper, you know? Speaking of the FC3S, for anyone new to the rotary world or drifting, let me tell you why this car is an absolute legend. The Mazda RX7 FC3S is renowned for its near 50:50 weight distribution, which makes it incredibly balanced and predictable, perfect for controlling those long, smoky drifts. The 13B rotary engine, even though it’s a bit quirky with its high-revving nature and unique sound, delivers power smoothly and consistently, making it a joy to push to its limits. Mine's naturally aspirated for now, but I'm dreaming of a future turbo setup! The aftermarket support for these cars is also fantastic, so finding parts for suspension upgrades, steering angle kits, or even just bodywork is relatively straightforward. My drift build journey has been a wild ride. So far, I've focused on getting the suspension dialed in with coilovers and adjustable arms to increase steering angle – crucial for maintaining those big slides. The differential has been upgraded to a proper limited-slip unit, which is non-negotiable for predictable drift performance. Next up, after the paint, will be some interior work, maybe a roll cage for safety and stiffness, and then fine-tuning the engine. It's not just about raw power; it's about control, feel, and the pure joy of sliding. Every time I get behind the wheel, even just moving it around the garage, I'm reminded why I chose an RX7 FC as my canvas.
