According to a report by the website, Bleeping Computer has mentioned the detection of a hacker attack in the form of a Supply Chain Attack by hacking the official website of the famous driver emulator DAEMON Tools and switching the Installer files on the website to embedded malware instead. There have been more than a thousand people affected by the download of fake installers from more than a hundred countries around the world. The affected version of DAEMON Tools runs from versions 12.5.0 2421 to 12.5.0 2434, especially those who download tools like DTHelper.exe, DiscSoftBusServiceLite exe, and DTShellHlp.exe. Available from 8 April onwards

For malware that comes with the DAEMON Tools, this tool will be divided into two. Two Stages Infection:

The first will be a data theft or Infostealer malware that is not named by the source. It will collect data on the victim's machine, such as the name of the victim's machine, the runned process, the MAC Address number, the software installed on the machine, etc. The data will be sent to hackers at the source to profile the victim. All thousands of installed machines will be infected with this malware.

The second is open-door malware or backdoor with the ability to execute commands, download files, and execute code directly on memory. There are only about 12 malware-infected machines, usually those that run under high-value industries such as retail, manufacturing, scientific, and government organizations. These 12 are distributed within Russia, Belarus, and Thailand.

Although a research team from Kaspersky, the company that developed the famous anti-Virus tool, did not confirm which of the hackers was behind it, a review of the string value inside the code predicted that the person behind it might be a Chinese hacker. In addition, the research team contacted the developer of DAEMON Tools to report this, but the developer has not been contacted.
