Apple has released macOS 26.6, the Developer Beta 1 version, for testers to try it out.
According to a report by the 9to5Mac website, Apple released the Beta version of macOS 26.6 after releasing the full macOS 26.5 for users to update in early May. This macOS 26.5 came with a new Power button feature that allows Mac mini, Mac Studio, and iMac users to restart or shut down easily at the Power button. It also comes with a number of new features, such as the introduction of Places on Apple Maps, encryption support. End-to-End Encryption for RCS Messaging Traffic (Rich Communication Services), and Live Activities Support on 3rd Party Devices for Users in Europe
Sources have speculated that macOS 26.5 may be the last major feature update before switching to macOS 27. The macOS 26.6 update may only be an update to fix bugs or increase system stability. Sources do not agree on any such forecast because it is in the process of running the test version of macOS 26.6. Developer Beta 1 is available. Sources have also advised new testers how to download macOS 26.6 Developer Beta 1 (Build 25G5028f) as follows:
