This is the smoothest break in 50 years because it turns the sin of the manufacturer into the duty of the consumer like us.
1. The beginning of the eye break (The Big Lie)
Back in the 1970s and 1980s, petrochemical and packaging giants faced a serious problem: people became so worried about plastic waste overflowing that they wanted the state to ban it.
Strategy: Instead of giving up plastic production, they chose to do a "Recycling" campaign.
They created the "Mobius Loop" symbol and pumped it on all kinds of plastic to make us feel good that this plastic would not destroy the world if we separated the garbage.
2. The Hidden Data
Most plastics in the world are "not really recyclable," or if they can, are so costly that they are not economically cost-effective.
Plastic No. 3-7: Almost nobody recycles it, but the arrow symbol that opens our eyes makes us believe it's recyclable.
Alarming numbers: Since plastic was invented, only about 9% has really been recycled; the rest is burned or landfilled.
3. Shifting the Blame
This is the most burning part of this theory: the "Crying Indian" campaign, or an advertisement that shows people crying because of garbage.
The result: Society aimed at insulting "people who litter is no place," instead questioning "companies that make millions of tons of plastic."
Hypnosis: We were taught to separate garbage, wash plastic bottles before throwing them to reduce guilt, but finally, the garbage we washed well went to the garbage well.
It's "Mu-keting" in the environmental version.
It doesn't sell good luck, but it sells "comfort."
It is the creation of content that makes people feel "good," just separating the garbage, and the structure behind it is uncontrollable.
These eye-breaking theories all work the same way: "create concern" and "give us a fake solution" that looks good, so that we bow down to pay or continue to follow the same structure without suspicion.
