Homemade Pretzel Bites 🥨
Warm, soft pretzel bites fresh out of the oven just hit different. These are golden, chewy, and way easier to make at home than you’d expect — perfect for snacking, dipping, or sharing (if you want to 😉).
Ingredients
• 1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F)
• 1 tbsp active dry yeast (or 1 packet)
• 1 tbsp sugar
• 4 cups flour
• 2 tbsp melted butter
• 1 tsp salt
For the baking soda bath
• 10 cups water
• ⅔ cup baking soda
Topping
• Egg wash
• Coarse salt
Instructions
1. Add the yeast and sugar to the warm water in a measuring cup. Let sit for about 10 minutes until a foamy layer forms on top.
2. In a KitchenAid bowl fitted with a dough hook, add flour, salt, melted butter, and the yeast mixture. Knead for about 10 minutes until a smooth ball of dough forms.
3. Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
4. Bring 10 cups of water to a boil. While waiting, punch the air out of the dough (my favorite part) and place it on a lightly floured surface.
5. Form the dough into a ball, divide into 6 equal pieces, roll each piece into a long rope, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
6. Preheat oven to 425°F.
7. Carefully add baking soda to the boiling water. Working in small batches, boil the pretzel bites for about 10 seconds, then transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
8. Brush each piece with egg wash and generously sprinkle with coarse salt.
9. Bake for 10–15 minutes, or until golden brown. Brush with butter immediately after baking.
Best enjoyed warm… because these disappear fast in our house 🤍
