LA Coffee Crawl: 3 Spots, 3 Vibes ☕️✨

Spent the day coffee crawling through LA ✨3 stops, 3 totally different experiences, and honestly… I’d do it again.

Here’s where I went + what stood out at each spot:

1️⃣ Kind Grounds

A warm, community-forward café with friendly baristas and genuinely good vibes. Their signature iced vanilla latte was smooth and not overly sweet — bonus points for great music and cozy outdoor seating.

2️⃣ The Hive - Healthy Eats & Organic Cafe - MDR

Vibrant space, relaxed vibe, and everything on the menu looks and tastes amazing

3️⃣ Maru Coffee

Always reliable. I had the Creamtop — bold espresso with cold sweet cream. Simple, strong, and perfectly balanced. It’s a no-fuss favorite for a reason.

... Read moreMy recent LA coffee crawl was such a blast, and I'm already dreaming of the next one! There's something truly special about exploring a city one cup at a time, discovering new flavors and soaking in unique atmospheres. If you're inspired to embark on your own coffee adventure, here are some tips I've picked up to make your LA cafe crawl truly unforgettable. First things first, planning is key! Decide on a geographical area or a specific vibe you're chasing. For example, if you love a cozy community feel with great music and outdoor seating, spots like Kind Grounds are perfect. If you're into a more vibrant space with healthy eats and a relaxed vibe, you might head to a place like The Hive. I usually aim for 2-4 spots in a day, keeping travel time in mind. Using public transport, ride-shares, or even walking between close-by cafes can add to the experience. Don't rush; allow yourself to truly enjoy each stop. When I'm scouting for new cafes, I pay attention to a few things that really make a place stand out. It's not just about the coffee itself, but the whole experience. I look for friendly service that makes you feel welcome from the moment you step in. A cozy setup or inviting outdoor patio, like the one at Kind Grounds with its string lights, makes a huge difference, especially in sunny LA. And of course, the drinks! A really solid vanilla latte or a perfectly balanced espresso with cold sweet cream, like the Creamtop at Maru Coffee, can make your day. I also appreciate cafes that embrace a specific aesthetic, whether it's a minimalist, clean design or a more vibrant interior with a floral mural, as seen at some of my favorite spots. These details are what transform a simple coffee run into a memorable moment. LA's coffee scene is incredibly diverse, so don't be afraid to explore beyond the well-known names. If you're searching for something specific, like a modern, almost 'cubicle-chic' aesthetic, many cafes in areas like Downtown LA or the Arts District offer sleek, sophisticated environments with expert baristas crafting precision coffee. I love using social media and local blogs to find these hidden gems. Look for photos that showcase the interior design, the types of drinks offered, and the general atmosphere. Sometimes, the most unexpected spots become your new go-to. Don't be afraid to ask baristas for their recommendations for other great coffee shops in the area – they often know the best places! Remember, a coffee crawl is about the journey as much as the destination. It’s an opportunity to slow down, savor the moment, and connect with the unique culture of each neighborhood. So grab a friend, map out your route, and get ready to sip your way through the amazing coffee landscape of Los Angeles!
