Week 1 of relearning the guitar
It's been an incredible journey so far! After a whopping 11 years away from my beloved instrument, I decided it was high time for a comeback. This past week marked 'Week 1 of reteaching myself' to play the guitar, and honestly, it felt like coming home. I remember thinking, 'Can I even still do this?' but the muscle memory started to kick in faster than I expected. For anyone else out there wondering if it's too late to pick up a guitar, or maybe you're a complete beginner looking for 'guitars for beginners' advice, let me tell you, it's absolutely not! My first few days were all about shaking off the rust. I focused on simple finger exercises and getting comfortable holding the guitar again. If you're just starting, don't overwhelm yourself. Find an instrument that feels good in your hands, whether it's an acoustic or an electric. My 'best way to practice guitar' for Week 1 involved short, frequent sessions. I aimed for 15-20 minutes, 2-3 times a day, rather than one long, tiring session. This really helped with consistency. I started by revisiting basic open 'chords guitar' like G, C, D, and Em. Even though I knew them before, my fingers needed to remember the shapes. For beginners, mastering these foundational chords is key before moving onto more challenging ones like 'chord f guitar' or the dreaded 'c# barre chord'. Don't rush; accuracy over speed! I also dipped my toes into some 'guitar scales practice'. Nothing too complex, just the basic major scale patterns to get my hands moving fluidly again. It's amazing how quickly your dexterity can improve with just a little dedicated effort each day. I'm already eyeing some 'easy guitar riffs for beginners acoustic' to add a bit of fun to my practice routine, and maybe even some 'electric guitar songs for beginners' down the line. Looking ahead, I'm thinking about following a 'best guitar lesson roadmap?' or checking out some 'best guitar books for self teaching' to structure my learning. There are so many resources online for 'read all about it chords', 'one piece at a time chords', and even tutorials for 'seventh chord inversions'. The key is to find what works for you and keep it enjoyable. My goal is to eventually play some of my favorite songs, like mastering 'in my blood chords' or even learning the intro to 'back in time chords'. This journey of reteaching myself the guitar is just beginning, and I'm so excited for what's next!
