How To Stop Comparing Your Body: Post-Grad

Body positivity is something I’ve had to work on for years. I grew up doing gymnastics—surrounded by girls whose goal was to me as small and fit as possible at all times. That mindset sticks with you especially in college and post-grad. As a college athlete I was told what to eat, what to wear, when to workout and more. The way my body looked was a result of that and not because I wanted it to be that way. Post-grad I’ve had the opportunity to eat, workout, and practice balance based on how I want to feel and what makes me feel the best. I’ve learned to prioritize 1. Healthy eating 80% of the time. 2. Working out 5 days a week but including recovery days. 3. Include balance. I take days off, I skip the gym and get ice cream. This has come with learning to love myself. Which takes time! #lemon8fitness #lemon8partner #summerbod #embracingvulneralbility #embracingmybody

... Read moreTransitioning from the structured environment of college athletics to post-graduate life can be challenging, especially when it comes to body image. Many of us carry lingering habits and mindsets from years of focusing on performance and appearance as dictated by coaches or team culture. One helpful approach is shifting the focus from appearance to how your body feels and functions. Embracing body positivity post-grad means acknowledging that bodies change naturally over time. It’s normal for your athletic build to evolve, and rather than feeling pressure to maintain a specific shape, prioritize what makes you feel strong, energized, and happy. This mindset encourages celebrating progress based on how you feel, not just what you see in the mirror. Practicing balance is key—allow yourself permission to take rest days and enjoy treats like ice cream without guilt. Integrating recovery days prevents burnout and fosters a sustainable fitness routine tailored to your personal needs. Additionally, tuning into your body’s hunger and fullness signals promotes healthier eating habits, making the 80% healthy eating guideline more manageable and enjoyable. Confidence grows as you foster self-love and accept vulnerability as part of the journey. Sharing your experiences and listening to others facing similar struggles can help diminish feelings of isolation. Ultimately, the goal is to cultivate a positive relationship with your body where your self-worth is not linked solely to physical appearance but to your overall well-being and authenticity.

How to stop comparing yourself
Comparing yourself to others is almost automatic—it’s how the brain tries to measure progress and belonging. The problem is that it quietly distorts reality and drains your confidence. You don’t have to eliminate comparison completely, but you can take control of how much it affects you. #chris

How to stop comparing yourself to others
Stop chasing someone else’s version of success. When you define your own values, you set your own scorecard. Your goals don’t need to look like theirs. They just need to align with what matters most to you. The moment you measure your life by your values, comparison loses its grip. #healing
