Daggermouth book review 📚

5 stars ⭐️

does contain spice 🌶️ but I honestly skimmed it because it wasn’t the main couple so I didn’t care enough 😅

the injuries and recovery time in between were not realistic in the slightest. Shadera broke her collarbone and then it was rarely mentioned again and she went on fighting and getting hot and heavy within the next chapter or two.

loved Greyson. Loved the supporting characters (except Jameson who was kind of annoying to be honest 🫢)

the plot twists at the end were great! I knew Brooker was alive and a rebel because duh… but I wasn’t expecting him to ultimately be a villain! I figured he’d be “Python” but nope. Python’s identity shocked me.

injury plot holes aside, this book is amazing!

tropes:

- multiple POVs

- dystopian/masked society

- enemies to lovers

... Read moreAfter diving deep into H.M. Wolfe's 'Daggermouth,' I just had to share more of my thoughts, especially since so many of you are curious about specific aspects of this dark dystopian romance! My initial 5-star rating stands firm, and here's why you might want to pick it up, especially if you're searching for details on its unique elements. First off, let's talk about the 'spice' in Daggermouth. Yes, it's definitely present, adding to the intense atmosphere of the story. While the original review mentioned I skimmed some scenes because they weren't with the main couple, it's worth noting that its inclusion often serves to highlight the harsh realities and moral ambiguities of this masked society. If you're into that level of intensity in your romance, you'll find it here, contributing to the overall dark allure. It truly sets the tone for the complex relationships H.M. Wolfe expertly crafts. The 'masked society' itself is a huge draw and a core 'trope' that makes Daggermouth so captivating. It’s not just a cool aesthetic; these 'masks' are integral to the dystopian control and the mystery surrounding the characters. You’re constantly left wondering who’s behind which facade, adding layers of suspense to the 'plot,' especially as you try to unravel the true identities and allegiances of crucial 'characters' like Brooker and Python. The 'masquerade mask' prominently featured on the book cover truly hints at the secrets and hidden dangers within this world. Speaking of 'characters,' Greyson absolutely won me over, but Shadera’s journey is just as compelling. Despite a few moments where the 'injuries' and recovery felt a bit fast-paced (a minor plot hole I was happy to overlook for the sheer enjoyment of the story!), her resilience and spirit of 'rebellion' truly shine through. The book cover's tagline, 'HE IS HER RUIN. SHE IS HIS REBELLION.', perfectly captures their intense, intertwined destinies. The twists involving Brooker, going from presumed rebel to ultimate 'villain,' and the shocking reveal of 'Python's' identity left me utterly speechless. It's these kinds of 'plot twists' that elevate the book beyond a typical enemies-to-lovers narrative. For anyone looking for a comprehensive 'Daggermouth synopsis' or 'summary,' imagine a world where survival means conforming, but love sparks a dangerous defiance. It’s perfect for fans of 'The Hunger Games' for its high stakes and oppressive government, and 'The Handmaid's Tale' for its exploration of societal control, but with a much darker, sexier, and more action-packed 'dystopian romance' vibe. H.M. Wolfe has created a truly immersive and unforgettable read that I highly recommend. The striking 'blue dripping heart' on the cover visually represents the dark romance within. Don't let the 'Spoilers!' warning deter you; the journey through this intriguing 'daggermouth book' is just as thrilling as the destination!
